Honestly, I'd actually enjoy seeing a kind of cross-breeding mechanic for getting new Pokémon. It could be interesting, having (for example) Ponyta and Blitzle breed to make a new species of Pokémon with it's own evolutionary line and so on. Also, to avoid making shit confusing by possible cross-breed on cross-breed, stick 'em in the "No Egg" Egg Group.
