Okay how about this:
I'll make two threads here and one on /v/ and other pokemon boards.
One of the ones here is to declare registration. They'll post their showdown names and they need to post with a single ID on both threads.
The other one is to declare teams. It'll be official doubles format so no legendaries. Once you make your team you can't change it during the duration of the tournament.
Depending on how many unique constants show up (please don't try to have multiple entries) the brackets will be set up, it will not be single round elimination. Instead people will be put randomly in groups depending on how many people show up. They fight every person in their group one set (best of 3), the top 2 people for each group advance.(win+1, lose-0, ties between 2-3 will have to battle it out again).
It will initially be locked at 64 people, BUT if we get 128 people or more registered AND participating, price pool will double for 1st-3rd (1st gets a 40$ prize, 2nd gets 20, 3rd gets 10), and 4th and 5th will get prices too.(1-5usd gift from steam).
(I can also see if I can buy currency for the digital platforms that the Wii U/3ds, PS4/vita and xbone but those prices might take longer to give out)
The tournament should be next week on Friday and Saturday since unfortunately I don't get paid till days after steam sale ends.
And if anyone has suggestions on how it should be ran, feel free to let me know, we'll have time to come an agreement or push the thing back a few days. And if you're interested in volunteering to help, feel free to ask here too. I'm gonna make a Discord channel (sorry IRC loyalist) for the board and the tournament if the time ever comes, might give hotpocket positions there too. (although honestly, at it's current rate, the board doesn't need more than me atm.
