The DSC is only one component of R21. DSC sends your GPS location out to the R21 system if your radio has that capability.Most do not. That part never caught on. R21 is mainly used today for direction finding with plain old multi-tower triangulation because 99% of the people are running plain analog radios. Modulation scheme doesn't matter. The operator can select the FM channel or pick a carrier out of a spectrum view.

GVL meet wound up being a bust unless some other anons managed to get together. I hung around the Wyche Pavilion (the old mill by the TD bank stage) for about an hour and kept broadcasting on FRS ch. 14 on my Baofeng for around an hour before I was soaked and headed out.
