I'd argue if anything it's likely bad for us. I'm going to take for granted that none of us are big fans of Dicky. Maybe someone wants to argue that he's doing good work (somehow), but I think I'm responding to the consensus here.
Richard Spencer was already the de-facto leader of this event being the highest profile one (in the media and in the books of the opposition) and he probably played a critical role in organizing it. Now he's in a position that gives him "street cred". I don't think they're going to press any criminal charges against him, but if they do there are two possibilities:
1) Richard Spencer gets sentenced to likely 1-3 years (or less) in prison
2) Richard Spencer gets acquitted.
Either way, the facts of the case are Richard Spencer is going to be made into a "victim" for racially-conscious whites (who are ignorant of or don't care about the fact that Spencer's maternal grandfather's mom was a kikess) and anyone inclined towards right-wing constitutionalism or libertarianism to rally around.
Under Scenario 1, best case for us is Dicky gets shanked and becomes a martyr for the cause without being able to guide it forward. Worst case is he gets out and uses it to launch the political career he wants as king of the controlled opposition.
Scenario 2 results in a stronger version of what would happen if they just don't press charges, he gets his profile boosted, gets to talk to the media some more, and gets to keep on serving as a voice of moderation and subversion for the right-wing, as an even more powerful figurehead than before.
