The Swastika is a sacred symbol in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. It is also a sign of spiritual purity. The swastika was a letter in the ancient Sanskrit language. It meant luck or well being. It is also found on Byzantine buildings, Ancient Greek coinage and in Native American burial sites. During the 20th century Adolf Hitler adopted the symbol for the Nazi Party. From 1935 – 1945 it was used on the German Flag.

Draw this symbol far everywhere you go to bring peace and good fortune to mankind!

>The Swastika is a sacred symbol in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism… bla bla …

The swastika is an approximately 6,000-year-old symbol that has been proven on four continents.

"Treasures for export. The find on the seabed covers about 60,000 parts, destined for export more than a millennium ago - it is the oldest treasure that divers ever wrested from the sea in Asia. "(Der Spiegel, 13/2004, p. 170) The swastika , artfully engraved as a leaf ornament in a plate, was a successful export article from Asia more than a thousand years ago.

The swastika is found among the Celts, for example, on tapestries in princely graves, and the Teutons in various forms on spearheads. It also graced the shields of Roman legionaries and brooches in Etruscan tombs.

The findings from Europe then led across Asia Minor to India. The farther one moves away from this area, the younger are the finds made so far. Within Europe, the swastika symbol was found in the pre-Germanic Nordic culture of the younger Stone Age. a. in the megalithic tomb of Drosa near Körthen, on a spinning whorl of the so-called Salzmünder Kulturgruppe and in Roßlau a. d. Elbe.

At the same time it was in the area from Bohemia to Transylvania in the period around 3000 BC. d. Z. spread.

It could then be ascertained that the swastika from here crossed Troy around 2500 BC. d. Z. came to Asia Minor. It is found at the same time by the Semitic people of the Sumerians, the earliest inhabitants of Mesopotamia, who were still subjugated by the Semitic Akkadians in the third millennium. Later, in the entire Mesopotamia under Semitic-Babylonian rule, the swastika was unknown.

In the cultural strata of Susa (Persia) the swastika was also found, but even here the age does not reach far beyond 2000 BC. d. It was at the gate to India. The supporting element is the group of Indus culture. This culture is related to Susa. Further, the symbol of the same area in the early days has not gone out, because in the real India we find it only in the period around 500 BC. d. Z. in use. Here it is called "swastika", which means something like "lucky charm", and plays an extraordinary role in the Buddhism that emerged during this time.

It was not only applied to Buddhist temples, but also used in worship itself. The individual arms of the swastika have a special meaning in Buddhism: the right signifies the ground of life, the lower the vegetable and the animal, the left the human, and the upper the heavenly life. The connection of the same-armed cross with the swastika, the so-called "wheel of the law", comes from the Sanchi Stuya around 500 BCE Z. Here, the terms sun wheel and year wheel to the "wheel of the law", including the sacred footprints of the Buddha located here wear the swastika, and these very footprints are connected with the ancient sun cult.

In China, together with Buddhism we find the swastika from 100 BC onwards. d. Z. In Chinese, it means "Wan" and embodies the numerical value 10,000, which in Chinese is synonymous with infinity.

By a decree of Empress Wu from around 700 AD. Z. In the Scriptures the swastika was introduced in a circle as a word sign for "sun". As a result, the swastika was so often imaged on items of daily use in China that one of the succeeding emperors was forced to issue a decree to protect this sign, which strictly forbade the sacred symbol to be depicted on everyday objects This process was repeated in the Third Reich, in which a law for the protection of the symbol of the Third Reich had to be issued.

In Japan, too, the swastika with the Buddhist religion has become known. Here it has been given the name "Manji" and Japan is the land of the most varied forms of swastika, because time and again this symbol has been brought into novel forms and modifications. It meant great happiness to all the Japanese, as well as infinity and eternity. It returns to the arms of the oldest Japanese princely families.

The oldest swastika is from Europe. Modern day Ukraine to be precise. It's around 12 000 - 15 000 years old and it's carved on a piece of mammoth bone.

There's many diferent theories about the origin of it's symbolism. I like the theory about the northern constellations. 90% of them are found in the northern hemisphere and so the 4 arms could symbolize the 4 seasons.
