Tomorrow, Saturday the 30th, the biggest annual Nationalist event would take place here in Greece. It's the day we remember our brave fallen soldiers who were shot down over the Imia islands by the filthy Turkish air-force exactly 20 years ago, and the perpetrators are still going unpunished.
Golden Dawn organizes a big rally every year at that date in the center of Athens, and many Greek and other White Nationalists gather peacefully. However, there won't be any rally tomorrow.
Yesterday, as the local news reported, a group of about 15 German "far-rightists" who traveled here to join the Golden Dawn supporters were attacked by a pack of anti-Fascists (about 25 of them). It's unclear how the fight started. The attackers are still free to roam and brag about their attack on leftist internet forums.
Moreover, organized anti-Fascists have planned a counter-protest to take place tomorrow in the same location the Golden Dawn rally would take place (there is a memorial to the fallen soldiers of Imia there) in order to block their way and break the rally.
As a result, the police has issued that no protests or rallies shall take place in Athens tomorrow at all, in order to prevent any clashes between Nationalists and anarchists. That wouldn't really be a problem under any other circumstances - GD would just re-schedule the rally - but tomorrow is a sacred day.
Golden Dawn hasn't published any comment on the attack or the banishment of the rally yet, but I imagine them being really furious.
All this seems like a well-crafted little plan to halt GD's publicity campaign - I mean, I imagine it being super easy for our leftist government to plan an attack on a small and independent group of foreign Nationalists in order to prevent GD's biggest rally and publicity stunt tomorrow.
Anyways, just wanted to let you guys know. I can't wait to see what GD has to say about it and if and how they'll retaliate.
