Essentially, for evolution to be true, exactly three things need to be true.

1. DNA exists

2. Your DNA comes from the combined DNA of your parents.

3. Mutations occur.

If these three things are true, then evolution is simply a statement about how things are. That given a long enough period of time, a species can become distinct enough from another portion of the same species to no longer be considered the same.

Some of the most hardcore Christians I know still can recognize that the Bible is a book of allegories and not meant to be taken 100 percent literally. Evolution doesn't disprove god. When people say "of course evolution is true" they're not talking about every single part of the theory, they're talking about the concept, which is demonstrably true.
