No, you didn't. HUD is a despotic mess. Their rules and laws are applied unequally and unfairly. I think i see where you're coming from (you can correct me if I understood incorrectly), as a member of the HOA you have to deal with regulations that although serve to increase prices of a neighborhood, you have to follow. While as an administrator of the HOA, you have to constantly follow with either law so you don't get in trouble OR with a third party company that will run all that for you.

I am a big supporter of HOAs because I moved to a new neighborhood recently and I want to increase the property prices.

Last year I got a package of potential board members I could vote for. People can only run if they live in the community. Didn't go because they always schedule meetings while I'm out working.

Ironically it's been this quietness that made me hesitate on making an HOA. Everyone there is so nice, and IDK how to approach it. Then again I have a financial incentive. Not worth the time or the effort either dealing with myself or trying to enforce for renters, it would cost me more monthly in lawnscaping and other things to meet regulations than i could gain through rent increase. Now i can just tell renters to upkeep their own property and keep their security deposit if they don't and still charge nearly the same rates or slightly higher for a few than in HOA areas, not to mention that since i personally collect cars as a hobby HOA is immediately unacceptable due to that alone.
