A lot of the shit I am posting might be false, since I have little personal knowledge in it. Considering the nature of the site, it would be best to look things up by default, instead of experimenting.

>0. Always have plausable deniability

Every other rule here is presented to reinforce this one. The criminal justice system is bound by the burden of proof, and they have to prove "beyond a reasonable doubt" that you were doing something illegal. You can be shady as fuck and so long as they cant prove direct involvement they have to let you go.

The FBI can know you use TOR, and that you have contacted shady individuals with it, but if almost all of your browsing sessions include a fuckton of furry taur scat porn you now have a perfectly legal excuse for wanting to encrypt your activity. Also, as >>156913 mentioned, even if you are compelled under warrant they have no way to prove that you didn't just "forget" your encryption password, and >>156887 wasn't destroying evidence, those were old drives he was going to recycle and he wanted to make sure his data was secure.

Plausible deniablity is love, plausible deniablity is life, and it should give you a fucking freedom boner every time you think about it

>0.5- Everyone is a filthy fucking criminal, including you.

You remember that company that made the plans for that 3d printed gun back after sandy hook? Do you also remember about how they fucking vanished?

As it turns out, there's an obscure line of text in an old trade treaty that makes "exporting" weapons plans a federal crime, and posting shit online counts as "exporting" under the law. By posting pic related, the government has enough probable cause to at the very least bring me in for questioning.

You know what's also illegal to export under international treaties? encryption software. If you've posted shit to github or seeded something with encryption capabilities, you have committed a crime equivalent to arms trafficking.

The thing about law is that its labyrinthine and once passed its highly unlikely that law will be repealed. Also, almost all of that law was made before the internet was even a concept. If they want you bad enough, they will find a way to fuck you. There is no way around that, and Al Capone learned that the hard way.

> 1. be polite and positive.

You aren't fucking Scarface, and the only shameful outcome is if you get ass-raped in the 24 hour holding cell because the guy you called a "pig" decided that cleetus needed a cell mate for the evening.

Also, if you act polite and civil he won't assume you have something to hide. Only druggies, serial traffic violators and uppity gang members have reason to be rude to the cops

>2. Always refuse seraches.

Even if he ignores you and grabs your dick anyway, kindly and firmly state that you didn't consent to this search. If he doesn't have legal authority to search you, he can find an entire meth lab taped to your dick and they can't use it as evidence against you in court. This applies to your person, your car, your computer and your home. Cell phones are legally dubious, but if you keep anything sensitive on them you're a fucking dumbass.

> 3. keep anything sensitive out of sight at all times.

As soon as a cop sees contraband, he has the probable cause needed to search your shit. Keep any and all contraband in a drawer, separate room or opaque container at all times. In a pinch, line of sight can save you. Back in college a friend of mine was holding a massive bong not 3 feet away from a cop and managed to get away with it because the owner of the house didn't undo the chain-lock on the door.

> 4.Shut the fuck up.

You have the right to remain silent. Fucking use it. Don't lie, that's pujury and can land you in deep shit. If a cop tries to get you to lie and asks probing questions simply say "i can't possibly tell you that." If you are being interrogated simply say "I will not talk to you until I speak to an attorney" and then fucking take a nap on the desk. If all else fails, just stare at them with a dumb look on your face.

I had a friend manage to get out of a drug charge by throwing his stuff into a bush, sitting down and not saying a damn thing. They couldn't prove that the stuff wasn't left there by someone else, and his drug test came up clean, so they had to let him go. It was plausible deniablity in action.

>TL:Dr

if you understand plausible deniablity and know how to use it, you can literally get away with murder. From the moment you first talk to the cop up until you speak to your attorney, understand that you can fuck yourself and be very, very careful about your words. Know your rights and play it safe kids

>I'm new to electronics, where do I get started?
There are several good books that are commonly recommended for beginners and those wanting to learn more. There are also plenty of good Youtube channels that teach about the basics as well as advanced concepts. The best way to get involved in electronics is just to make stuff. Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty. Take something apart or build something you find cool on one of the many electronics websites.

>What books are there?

Beginner:
Getting Started in Electronics by Forrest Mims III
Make: Electronics by Charles Platt
How to Diagnose and Fix Everything Electronic by Michael Jay Greier

Intermediate:
All New Electronics Self-Teaching Guide by Harry Kybett, Earl Boysen
Practical Electronics for Inventors by Paul Scherz and Simon Monk

Advanced:
The Art of Electronics by Paul Horowitz

And sometimes even just ebay.

>What circuit sim software do you use?

This mostly comes down to personal preference. These are the most common ones though:
NI Multisim
LTSpice
CircuitLab
iCircuit for Macs

>What software should I use to print circuits

Circuit Wizard
ExpressPCB
EAGLE

Posting any random shit I can find as long as it could be useful, even if most people won't even bother. Some of the things posted may or may not be illegal in certain countries.

When do Chefs and Doctors Buy Generic?

http://www.npr.org/blogs/money/2014/07/25/334459041/when-do-chefs-and-doctors-buy-generic

Shop like a Pharmacist: Don't buy Advil

http://news.yahoo.com/shop-pharmacist-dont-buy-advil-143000284.html

The basic gist of the above articles is that on alot of medicines, people buy the brand because they don't know what the active ingredients are. Doctors tend to go with generics more often than the average customer, simply because they know the active ingredients.

https://www.askthedoctor.com/

This is a website where you can ask a medical question (or browse others) and in about a week a doctor will answer you for free. You can also pay for a faster answer but it's a little steep. (I think it was $50 for an answer within the hour and $30 for five hours, and no other options). Anyway I have asked a couple questions there and they replied after about 5 days with a pretty detailed answer.

How to build a pallet garden.

The apartment complex I live in was going to let me make one of these. They are space efficient as fuck, and can hold a surprisingly large amount of plants. OC pics as season picks up.

Pallet gardens are excellent alternatives to large gardens for growing smaller sized vegetables, herbs and ornamental flowers. Garden blogs and garden websites are noting pallet gardens as an up-and-coming trend. We decided to build a

pallet garden and found that a few modifications to the original designs really make this garden suitable to plant production. Schools with limited budgets and space can benefit from growing pallet gardens. Lumber costs can be expensive to

build raised beds, and many schools simply do not have the space to plant raised beds let alone traditional gardens. Below are the LSU AgCenter directions and pictures to construct and plant a pallet garden.

Materials Needed

'''1 pallet, a staple gun and staples, landscape fabric, soil and

seedlings.'''

Step 1. Find a pallet. Don’t spend money on a new one; visit a

local dumpster or speak with a grocery store manager. Pallets

can often be found behind large stores, but first ask a manger

as sometimes the delivery trucks recycle pallets saving stores

money.

Step 2. If any of the pallet boards are loose, nail them securely. If old nails are sticking out remove them. We don’t want students tearing their clothes or worse injuring themselves on old nails.

Step 3. If the boards are really rough lightly sand to prevent splinters.

Step 4. Determine which side you want to be the front, then

flip over. Starting on one side of the pallet, staple the landscape fabric (double layered) to the sides of the pallet, working from one side across the back and onto the other side. You may also want to start stapling at the top of the pallet pulling the fabric taut as you move across and down. Make sure the bottom of the pallet is also covered by a double layer of landscape fabric.

Step 5. Lay the pallet again on the ground front side up.

Step 6. Fill the pallet with soil. Occasionally tip the pallet to a

45 degree angle and shake soil to the bottom. Be careful not

to let too much fall from the front slots.

Step 7. Place plants in all slots between wood, placing the plants tightly together.

Step 8. Fill the remaining empty spaces with soil.

Step 9. Place something ( we’ve used a low bench) like bricks or concrete pavers under the top potion of the pallet garden. Staple a single layer of landscape fabric to the top of the pallet. Cut small holes in the top to plant seedlings that will grow vertically in the pallet. Stapling landscape fabric to the top side of the pallet at this stage allows you to fill the pallet completely with soil, keep the soil from falling out of the pallet each time you water, and prevents weeds from growing around the plants in the top section of the pallet garden. Leave pallet in this position for approximately 2-3 weeks.

Step 10. Carefully and slowly water the pallet. If you water too quickly, the soil will rush out of the top of the pallet.

>>609

After two to three weeks of initial growth, the roots will keep soil from falling out of the pallet garden when you flip it vertically. Flip the pallet to a standing position. Regularly water and use a liquid fertilizer. Construct the pallet garden in the permanent growing location. Once filled with wet soil and plants, pallet garden are very heavy!

These green ladybugs are a serious problem. Although they resemble ladybugs they are not ….their true common name is cucumber beetle and scientific name Diabrotica undecimpunctata. There is also a striped cucumber beetle, scientific name Acalymma vittatum. Cucumber beetles feed on small plant seedlings on the stems, roots and flowers. Not only will they physically damage the plant resulting in poor fruit set from flower damage, but also transmit bacterial wilt

disease. This disease can wipe out an entire field of plants. Typical symptoms of bacterial wilt are entire plants wilting in a day or over night and a white ooze emerging from cut stems placed in warm water. Cucumber beetles usually feed on cucurbits such as cucumbers, squash, melons, pumpkins and gourds. But they will also feed on plants such as beans, corn and potatoes. In a garden, how do we control pests such as cucumber beetles when we do not want to use insecticides?

1. Rotate your crops. Avoid planting successive plantings of cucurbits (pumpkins, cucumber, squash, gourds, melons). Take all cucurbit debris, old leaves and dead plants out of the garden. Clean these plants as soon as the season is over. Remove from the garden and if you see the beetle, do NOT

place in the compost. Throw plant material away.

2. Keep grounds around the garden mowed and weed free!

3. Place yellow sticky tape around the garden to trap adult cucumber beetles. Replace the sticky tape often as it will attract many beetles and garden debris. If you find large populations of cucumber beetles, you may want to switch from direct seeding cucurbits to planting transplants in the school garden. Transplants are older when beetles arrive and more tolerant of some feeding damage than young seedlings.

Alright, I know it's not exactly the most popular or well thought of skill, but it helps when you or your friends are locked out of your house or possessions, and can even net you some spare cash if you're up for side jobs.

Some good stuff to look to, if you're just getting started:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fI7Lx-73lU0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2r07NN21vM

(Bosnian bill has some good stuff, and will probably show you more than most other videos of the same type)

An example of an online store for these, or to check at your local locksmith's shop;

https://www.thinkpeterson.com/

Discuss tactics, speed picking, how to pick security pins, mushroom pins, bypassing, cylinder picking and more below

Starting off with picking can be daunting; but the first step to any successful lock picking attempt is to become intimately aware of the lock and its pins. The most basic step is to identify the number of pins inside the keyway.

After you've identified the number of pins in the key way, numbering it and maintaining the positions in your head, insert your tension wrench into the top of the key way, pressing in the direction that will open the lock, and apply minimal to medium tension, so that the pins snap in place when you push them to the shear line.

(for those of you that don't know, the shear line is where the pins align to unlock the lock, shown in the diagram above. You must put all pins in the shear line to open the lock.)

Then, put in your hook or rake and begin trying to press up the pins to the shear line. If you are using a hook, you are single-pin-picking.(SPP) If you use a rake, you are obviously raking.

Raking is just in the name; you pull back and forth in the key way with your rake, randomly shoving it around until you get a completed set of pins, and the lock opens.

You probably know what single pin picking is, as it's the most common form of picking in the media, so I won't explain it further.

If this is your first attempt on a door lock, it may take you several minutes if you have all the proper strategies in mind. Take note that is may be more effective to purchase a knock-off master lock for two dollars from your local dollar store, or anything with the name "Master" as a brand; as they are commonly known as the easiest to break in to locks.

What are the advantages to growing a plant without soil

>Less maintenance

>Faster and greater growth

>Reduced risk of pests and diseases

>Greater oxygenation at the root zone

>No growth of molds or other known allergens

Uses

>If you are planning to start growing large portions of plants, it is better with hydroculture before moving them to soil, hydroculture is usefull.

If you want to grow your own seeds

>materials:

*seeds

*A-Ok Rockwool starter plugs

*A gallon of (preferably distilled water)

*bowl that can hold a gallon of water

*seeding tray (you can use an egg carton)

*optional tweezers and garden gloves

*eye dropper

>procedures

1.take the water, pour it in the bowl

2.pour rockwool cubes in that bowl of water

3.Plants prefer acidic solutions to grow well, the ideal range is between a pH level of 5.5 and 6.5, so by squeezing in a half lemon you will be able to make the solution a bit more acidic. If you want to be very accurate, buy a PH tester, and some PH adjustment solutions, they sell those.

4.mix the squeezed lemon juice with the distilled water and cubes.

5.take the cubes out of that water

6.place them in the seeding tray

7.put one seed of whatever you are planting in the cube's hole

8.w8

9.if you are gonna keep the plants on the squares for long, moisten them with a drop of water every now and then (preferably that lemon water from earlier)

If you don't want to seed, or have finished seeding

if you used the last step in the guide to seed, than you need to rip the cube away from the plant, this is the hardest step, as it could disturb the root system.

>materials

*plant with it's roots exposed

*clay pellets

*water level measurer

*pot

>proceedures

1.make sure to wash the roots free of soil

2.look at the diagrams on the OP

If you want EZ mode hydroponics

Ancient germanic planting technique: Hügelkultur and Hügelbeds

http://www.urbaniahoeve.nl/2012/06/hugelbedden-hugelkultur/?lang=en

http://www.permaculture.co.uk/articles/many-benefits-hugelkultur

Hügelkultur is a composting process employing raised planting beds constructed on top of decaying wood debris and other compostable biomass plant materials. The process helps to improve soil fertility, water retention, and soil warming, thus benefiting plants grown on or near such mounds.[1][2]

Hügelkultur replicates the natural process of decomposition that occurs on forest floors. Trees that fall in a forest often become nurse logs[3] decaying and providing ecological facilitation to seedlings. As the wood decays, its porosity increases allowing it to store water "like a sponge". The water is slowly released back into the environment, benefiting nearby plants.[1]

Mounded hügelkultur beds are ideal for areas where the underlying soil is of poor quality or compacted. They tend to be easier to maintain due to their relative height above the ground.[3] The beds are usually about 3 feet (0.91 m) by 6 feet (1.8 m) in area and about 3 feet (0.91 m) high.[1]

http://guide2homelessness.blogspot.de/

>Ruger 10/22

A must have for affordable plinking, ammunition (.22LR) is cheap, and should you ever want to trick it out, the aftermarket is enormous, with cheap and expensive parts alike.

>SKS (of any communist origin)

Very cheap self-loading rifle in 7.62x39mm (AK-47 cartridge), has a fixed magazine of 10 rounds, is reloaded by either manually pushing down cartridges in the magazine, or stripping a clip into the magazine.

Used to be unbelievably cheap in the 90's, but has since become a bit more expensive. A good one can be still be had for 200-300 dollars, Yugoslavian ones are relatively cheap, and they work, though they don't have chromelined bores so you MUST clean it if you shoot corrosive surplus ammunition.

>Mossberg Shotgun

Cheap, workable, does what you expect a standard pump-action shotgun to do. Avoid Remington shotguns from after 2009, utter garbage, a Mossberg is better than any Post-2009 Remington in near every regard.

>Hi-Point Carbine

Really ugly (pic related is an old model, they're uglier now), heavy, poor ergos, rough finish. Yes, the Hi-Point rifle is not easy on the eyes, but it is very cheap, it's easy to find, it's available in 9x19mm Parabellum, .40S&W, and .45ACP, and it does function, and it's really hard to break.

It's heavy weight does it a favor by keeping recoil down, but that does make it unwieldy. Magazines aren't big, Hi-Point firearms pride themselves on being compliant with AWB states, and they want that to remain. I hear rumors that they can be converted to accept 1911 magazines, but I don't know myself.

>The Single-Shot

This is the cheapest one, the single-barrel, break-action shotgun.

Available in any shell from .410 Bore and 20-Gauge to 12-Gauge and 10-Gauge. These weapons are immensely common all over the world, from all kinds of manufacturers and small scale makers, they are very cheap, they are very simple, in both mechanics and make, they're usually built thick, the internals are impossible to fuck up, the barrel is impossible to ruin.

A brand new one can go for about 100 dollars. An old used one can go for a 70, and it'll be good as new. They've been around for a century, shotguns from before 1968 may not even have importer marks, manufacturer marks, or serial numbers.

>Smith & Wesson M&P-15 Sport [5.56x45mm/.223]

This is an AR-15 rifle from S&W's Military & Police series of firearms, the Sport model lacks the forward assist (needless outside of an actual battlefield, and even then, hardly anyone actually uses it in combat today), and without an ejection port dustcover (also rarely used), this cuts down the price and weight of the weapon.

The M&P-15 is affordable, does what you expect an alright AR-15 rifle to do, and is just as modular as any other regular AR-15 on the market.

It comes with a 30 round Magpul magazine.

>WASR-10, Romanian Kalashnikov Rifle [7.62x39mm]

This is a Romanian made AKM (AK-47) rifle, it's in the lower mid-tier of Kalashnikovs, it does what you want it do, it is cheap, and it can largely accept most AK-47/AKM parts, it's not too fancy, some of the old ones are really rickety (though they're better now, called WASR 10/63), and they're cheap to shoot.

Both steel Combloc surplus magazines and American made plastic magazines are common and cheap, Tapco mags are cheap and lightweight, though QC is spotty. Magpul makes AK mags now, and they're good.

ProMag is really cheap, but ProMag is almost exclusively shit, expect it to fail to feed after one load (though I'm told this is good for training how to clear Failure To Feeds)

>Yugoslavian PAP "Pistol" [7.62x39mm]

This is a Yugoslavian made AKM in a compact package. It has no stock, or vertical foregrip, and it was declared as a Handgun when imported, so it is legally a pistol.

Yugoslavian/Serbian made Kalashnikov Rifles and Pistols are a step over Romanian WASR's, but some parts aren't quite as compatible. They all use the same magazines.

7.62x39mm doesn't have too shabby ballistics out of short barrels like on an AK pistol, since the bullet is kinda heavy, so it's still pretty good.

>Arm Braces

Popular today are things called "Arm Braces", meant to allow people with weak arms to support their arms to fire AK and AR pistols. The ATF ruled that these things do not count as shoulder stocks, and are perfectly legal to put on Pistols without making them Short Barreled Rifles, as long as you don't modify the brace itself.

So basically, you can put one of these braces on an AK-47 pistol, and you have a handy little carbine without requiring NFA paperwork or tax.

First of all, hipoints are fine, and they're cheap, and they're sold at Walmart. Their carbines (assault rifles) shoot pistol rounds and are much-loved, while their pistols are kind of hated because they're fatsos, but they're accurate and the cheapest.

If you want to step it up a bit, but still save cash, check out (soviet) Russian-designed, but elsewhere in the Bloc -made service pistols:

~ good luck ~

Since I'm not sure of your poverty-level, check out the mini-14:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Fk84KLiaa4

(the guy is controversial, most of all because he thinks that Keltec is good, when it's low-mediocre, and ignores some quality stuff, is arrogant and a faggot & more)

The mini-14 is nowhere near as good as an H&K, but it has been used successfully by various crazies, such as the Branch Davidians and Breivik of Norway. It throws a flier ever five rounds or so (a shot outside the grouping, but not dramatically off - enough off to make it worthless to a police hostage-freeing sniper).

Another idea is to get a machete and a couple of cheap mini crossbows. The crossbows are powerful and quite lethal at close range, and the machete can finish the job if need be.

Another idea is to wait - guns will become super-cheap to make once CNC tech goes mainstream. The Ghost Gunner is but the shot that started the CNC war. 3D printing will help too. You'll need barrel liners with the first generation (the Ghost Gunner is pre-first-gen), but they're super cheap (as always, The Man may chose such a part as a target).

And there's the illegal option (but it's not illegal absolutely everywhere, so I'll mention it).

The fastest and easiest gun you can make is a Four Winds shotgun. There are many videos on Youtube demonstrating the concept. Essentially you just need a couple pieces of pipe and a nail - and shot shells. An obvious enhancement to this would be to tape one of those $1 lasers to the pipe, making it super easy to aim (longer distances will require zeroing). Nobody seems to talk about chokes on these homemade rigs, but you could enhance your shot pattern of course with some sort of adapter on the end. The main thing to know is that you need a strap on the "barrel" pipe, and with this on your shoulder you shoot from the hip, like a guitar player holding his guitar at his side. afaik the whole affair is highly illegal in the US (for your safety, of course wink wink).

Shotguns are way more accurate than many people are aware:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNTyCcip-ks

This distance is only possible using slugs.

Nowhere near as accurate as bought slugs, you can make two kinds of slugs that are fantastic in their own right: cut slugs (field expedient slugs) and waxers (homemade breaching rounds - they break up doors, locks, but don't expect them to pierce body armor).

A cheap single shot shotgun can be had for $130, if you're slightly less poor.

Side note: there are adapters that allow you to shoot various caliber pistol rounds in a shotgun (with poor accuracy, since there is less than an inch of "barrel" in the adapter). These can be combined with cheap Walmart flare guns to create a reasonably safe single shot pistol. There may be plans online for making your own adapters - which would probably be ideal. In fact, the Walmart flare is probably the very best way to get a fire control system. So maybe you should google "flare gun" and "zip gun" and see if anyone has some easy way to harden the plastic flare guns. btw, there are metal flare guns which once were pretty cheap, but they're too expensive to even consider now, since you can legally buy a firearm.

failed to mention "snap caps" (wiki: "A snap cap is a device which appears similar to a standard firearm cartridge but contains no primer, propellant, or projectile"). You'll want to get a couple so you can practice using your firearm in the comfort of your home. You need to get the motions down smooth for each firearm (whereas shooting is pretty much the same for any firearm - so you can get most of your target practice done with a 22 of any kind. At some point you'll need to have a 22 handgun to practice handgun shooting, 22 rifle for rifle practice, but before that it won't matter which you have, because shooting is shooting. This level is your typical range dude. Once you're above average you'll need to have a 22 handgun to practice shooting a handgun; a 22 rifle to practice shooting a rifle. (Please also note that shooting a 22 will help you learn to shoot shotguns all the same. And note I mean shooting here. That is aiming and trigger control. You work with your snap caps to improve your familiarity with handling your gun. Also note that you can learn a lot from airsoft too, but the pellets drop a lot compared to a 22).

But still, until you're awesome with the 22 there's no point burning cash shooting higher calibers (other than for pleasure).

Concerning how to handle a firearm:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQrlDUIZ3f0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGYf9AZlSyU

What he says about "you're a different person" is very important. You cannot be smacking gum and shitting around. No drinking beer either, dumbass! All gun users are operators. PERIOD.

He doesn't go into it, but I will:

You must manage your mind. You must cleanse your mind of nasty thoughts. Suppose you think some day, "Well, I oughta kill…" no. You cannot think such thoughts now. So watch yourself, and if you find yourself saying such things respond and rectify your self-talk. You are an operator. And no fantasies where you are even shooting fantasy weapons at anyone other than terrorists.

A super-important warning about revolvers: You cannot place your hand over the cylinder. If you do you may even blow a finger off. Revolvers are not Glocks, and frankly are overpriced.

And regarding Glocks and ilk - beware slide bite. Youtube for videos if unfamiliar.

A totally legal improvised weapon is the PVC bow and arrow. You can even make your own arrows, razor-sharp, and absolutely capable of taking down big game - or for self-defense if need be. Bows can cost as much as guns, but they're not anywhere near worthless, especially at close range:

Sometimes the back of major food chain stores with just throw (sealed) food behind the store if it is going to expire soon. Got a ton of tasty pastries that way.

The homeless shelter gave out pretty decent meals for lunch. Salvation Army was giving out food boxes once a month. AA gives out coffee and sometime cookies. Religious centers. That's all I got. … Also Hari Krishna temples usually give out free food. The one I went to let me fill up tupper ware also.

From a 1948 pamphlet of household hints:

1. Make homemade room or closet deodorizer by mixing some diluted ammonia with fresh water and letting it sit out in a bowl overnight.

2. To erase fingerprints and spots from wallpaper, rub stale, soft chunks of bread in even vertical strokes.

3. Remove paper stuck to a wood surface by allowing a few drops of oil to soak into it and then rubbing it gently with a clean cloth.

4. Clean varnished surfaces with a cloth dipped in cool, weak tea. Tea also makes a good fertilizer for house plants and acts as an insecticide.

5. When you crack a dish, put it in a pan of milk and boil it for 45 minutes. The crack will usually disappear and the dish will actually become stronger.

6. Deodorize jars and bottles by pouring a solution of water and dry mustard into them and let them stand for several hours.

7. Pour hot salt water down your sink and tub drains once or twice a week to keep them free of grease and odors.

8. Sharpen scissors by cutting a piece of sandpaper once or twice with them.

9. Chill candles in the refrigerator for 24 hours before using them so the will burn evenly and not drip.

10. If a pot lid loses its knob, put a pointed screw through the hole and twist a cork (which is heatproof) onto it.

I've looked into the feasibility of acquiring Bitcoins by mining.

The profitability was estimated using these two calculators:

http://www.alcula.com/calculators/finance/bitcoin-mining/

http://coinbrief.net/c/btc/mining/

Performance data for bit mining devices have been taken from:

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_Hardware_Comparison

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Non-specialized_hardware_comparison

This article also proved very useful in explaining the current situation of Bitcoins in plain English:

http://coinbrief.net/bitcoin-mining-worth-it/

This information is valid for Bitcoins only. It does not apply to other crypto currencies.

The short answer is that Bitcoin mining is doable, slightly profitable but impossible without dedicated hardware. Mining with computer hardware just isn't doable any more since special hardware was designed. We'd be mining to infinity in a double sense.

Realistic numbers for a great GPU are 400 million hashes per second whereas the most cost effective dedicated hardware calculates over 1155 billion hashes per second. For computer hardware we'd at best be looking at an electricity cost of $600 to get $1 worth of Bitcoins, and it's abysmally slow. Everyone on 8chan together couldn't mine enough to cover a tenth of Hotweels' cost.

Dedicated hardware is refereed to as ASIC, Application-Specific Integrated Circuit, and in the case of Bitcoins refers to the microchip in the hardware that is designed to do one single thing: Resolve SHA-256 hashes as quickly and as efficiently as possible. Since they are designed for that single purpose the general-purpose hardware in computers just can't compete.

The most cost-effective unit at the moment, both relative to initial investment and hashes per kWh is this one: https://www.bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020150109104550452NTD3NdYY0669

If you want to break even within a year (with the cost of electricity included) you need to get it and a power supply for about $400 so whoever buys one is going to take a hit. On the upside it would only take about 20 people to cover Hotweels' costs using these, and with a user base of a few thousand people that is perfectly doable from a strictly economic standpoint. If we could find two dozen people willing to invest in one is another issue altogether.

As such no-one is going to be pooling for Bitcoins with their current equipment. Note that these profits are for Bitcoins and Bitcoins only. The situation is different for other currencies and I will make a different thread where I reason more about them and what steps we should take given this information.

SO YOU WANNA MAKE APNGS?

This thread is for tools of the trade. Here are some tools I have found useful so far.

http://gif2apng.sourceforge.net/

Convert your decrepit old GIFs to glorious APNGs.

http://vdubapngmod.sourceforge.net/

VirtualDub mod for APNG dumping and loading support. Allows you to create APNGs from AVI files. If you're planning on using a frame rate that GIF doesn't support you should start here! VirtualDub usually doesn't make the most optimized GIFs or APNGs so that's where GIMP and other optimizing tools come in.

http://registry.gimp.org/node/24394

GIMP GAP plug-in for opening and saving as APNGs.

I haven't gotten this damn thing to work properly myself but as I use GIMP regularly for making GIFs I imagine it would be extremely useful for those that can get it working.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/apng/files/APNG_Optimizer/

Optimizes your APNGs. Doesn't quite do it as efficiently as GIMP GAP but you take what you can use.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/apngasm/

Sort of useful tool for assembling from individual image files, could really use a visual display though; there's currently a funded kickstarter project to build one from it

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/374397522/apngasm-foss-animated-png-tools-and-apng-standardi

http://littlesvr.ca/apng/

A nice list of APNG tools, haven't gotten around to evaluating them all yet.

In Microsoft windows, there are many hidden features you probably don’t know. The “Master Control Panel” also know as “GodMode” will show you all task lists directly. With master control panel you can control all task in only one location that’s called GodMode.

→ Do not use in windows 64-bit because sometimes it will crash the system. You can try run method we described it below.

>How To Create GodMode Shortcut
