He gets elected.
Because he now has power, he writes the rules everyone, even corporations, have to live by.
For example:
If you have a job with a company that issues stock, and you buy/sell stock based on what you know…you go to federal prison for 'insider trading'.
If you are Harry Reid, you can can by massive amount of stock in a solar power company called Solyndra, then pass a bill giving Solyndra a one billion dollar grant, then sell your stock for a massive profit.
Why? Because Senators exempted themselves from the insider trading law.
