The only way Russia can control the Middle East not really, but to outside Western observers is if the United States sticks with its failed strategy of backing toxic nations like Israel and Saudi Arabia, while the Shi'ite axis of Iran/Syria/Hezbollah triumphs, becomes completely dominant in Iraq (currently Shi'ite, but more independent), and the United States is left out in the cold because they backed countries that are fucking terrible.
