This comic is wrong, the xkcd guy is an idiot.

It's always a minority of people that make stuff happen and a majority that just go with it.

36c2ee No.1312

I'd say it's very much true.

Everyone wants to think they're special. It takes a long time for most folks to realize they're average at best.

21a1e2 No.1327

People can be normal then at one moment do something great, often you have to be in the right place, the thing is to always be ready if greatness is trust upon you.

There are many times in history that has shown greatness

9/11, the people who crashed the plane into a field, the man who saved the world from nuclear war https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Man_Who_Saved_the_World

Some times its just being a nigger in the right place, obama.

Get fit and ready so if greatness comes you are ready to take your place

>Everyone wants to think they're special.

but some actually are.

I think the comic is the XKCD guy projecting so he can keep in line with his "we are all the same" Left wing ideology.

No, I don't believe that, unless by "special" you mean autistic.

Some men just manage to find the passion in their lives while most don't. That doesn't make then special.

Some people make a difference that's felt, others don't.

If you think about it, it could also be him trying to swing against identity politics as a whole.

Being some transgender faggot, or black, or some hipster liberal with colored hair doesn't make you special.

Creating some of the world's best music, or finding a way to viably grow corn in a desert, or crashing a plane with no survivors does.

>post a takedown of his faulty logic by Bruce Schneier, an actual cryptologist

>BUT MUH ENTROPY

This guy is a fucking retard and so are his fans. I think he's caught that swath of the population that loves "science" (as taught by Black Science Man) but never studied or partook in science because it was too hard/boring.

>It's always a minority of people that make stuff happen and a majority that just go with it.

The message of this comic is totally compatible with the claim you made there. He's not proposing that everyone is a special snowflake who just needs to appreciate fellow special snowflakes more, he's proposing that most people are sheep who just go along with it and mistakenly believes that they're special. Yeah, some people do important things, but they're a small minority.

That said, xkcd is still a faggot comic by a faggot targeted at faggots who faggot their faggot sandwiches with a faggot of faggot faggots. It's just that this particular panel happens to be one of the rare instances where he's not completely and totally wrong.

true

most people in that packed train are either thinking of escaping their boring lives or thinking of what theyll enjoy after work in their meaningless lives

>This guy is a fucking retard and so are his fans.

Come on, this is bollocks. You disagree with a guy politically, and suddenly he has a low IQ, despite it being blatantly high due to his University education and extensive knowledge of mathematics and statistics that the average 100 IQ person could never really get to grips with.

Ideology is mostly about preference and not facts anyway. He's probably not wrong about the majority of facts on how the world works, it's just that he wants to live in a radically different world than I do, a world that would be deeply depressing according to my preferences but enjoyable according to his.

Have you ever tried talking to a random person?

Yes the majority of them are dumb as fuck. But each of them has his own life experience, and a personal wisdom derived from it. They may not be able to see the big picture, but they hold a piece or two of the puzzle.

This is pretty much spot on. I bet his audience overlaps massively with /r/science.

le science is so magical :^)

Politics wasn't even mentioned in that post. One day he probably just read a Wikipedia article and decided to draw a comic that has almost surely misled thousands of people into choosing weak passwords.

Just popping into this thread to say that Randall Munroe is a moron in spite of his education because he uses maths references as though they're punchlines in and of themselves. Polite sage.

True. Rejecting the current world order is not "being edgy" and most people absolutely do not reject a single thing. They just go along with everything.
