>selectively apply birthright citizenship

But there was never a Supreme Court ruling on giving children of illegals brithright citizenship.

The idea of giving non-citizen, yet legal residents of this country birthright citizenship for their child was an issue that was settled only in the 70s.

There was never a constitutional precedent nor a historical one for giving the children of illegals birthright citizenship.

Trump ultimately has very limited networks in politics and I doubt he'd be able to get much done in his first term.

Hate the guy all you want, but there is no denying by the right that he is the first candidate in a long time that accusations of racism/sexism literally don't do anything to him.

Every policy from abortion, immigration, economic principles, national security, has been a solid loss for the Republicans. Its always the same tirade of "old, raycis, white Republicans don't want anybody to have anything".

Instead of sticking to their guns and reaching out to the demographics that will vote for them, they continue to try to sweep up minority votes with arguments like "LIberals are the real racists and we don't hate women."

The reality is that conservatives will never get the colored vote in America. The "us vs them" oppression narrative is so ingrained that they will check the blue box till the end times. Republicans never get it so they continue to try to make their party more marketable to colored with "immigration friendly" policies and token women on the ticket, but the public will never go for it because the Democrats play the same game and win every time.

Trump has the media savvy and the election experience (even if he was a total joke during his previous run) where he knows how to stir up nationalist sentiments in America, yet just stay behind the politically unviable "white supremacist" line.

He's also not as stupid as he looks. He understands that majority voters don't go to college or watch to hear some endless tirade about policy crafting.

His camp already shows understanding that illegal immigration is primarily due to poor enforcement of visa expiration and unwillingness to prosecute, but lets face it, that does not sound nearly as exciting or urgent as telling Americans there are tons of Mexicans running through and raping our boarders, so he's gonna be the one to put up a mega deathwall to keep these people out.

TLDR: Love him or hate him, he's the best shot we have for AT LEAST changing the race narrative in this country.

There's a popular saying, anon...

>If you're not a liberal at 25, you have no heart

>If you're not a conservative at 35, you have no brain

Young people are inclined to vote for more socialist-leaning, degenerate candidates when they're younger because they have no real world experience fresh out of college, and they think redistribution works. Anyone who's a democrat can be a shit and get re-elected.

It's the Conservatives who have to fight for the young person's vote because of this.

Trump or Sanders would fuck up the economy so badly that we might even potentially have a revolution on hand. Personally I hope a Democrat gets elected so we can finally admit socialism even in mild forms is a burden on the community, but fortunately even Trump would screw it up badly enough.

I want my freedom back, but no one is gonna fucking vote Libertarian, and they sure as hell aren't gonna vote in any of my Anarchist/Minarchist friends until they get a few dozen bullets shot into them by the state.

So, how likley it is that he will get nominated? As far as I see he gets constant coverage on TV, like in the past two days, and although it's mostly negative he still seems to have a lot of support considering the poll numbers.

And while some of his ideas sound good, the same amount of them sound as if he's some retard that tries to fuck with everyone and set himself up to fail.

Would the republicans really nominate him who looks like a pr-disaster in human form?

WRONG

http://www.nationalreview.com/article/422723/trumps-critics-are-wrong-about-14th-amendment-and-birthright-citizenship-edward-j

>In 1866, Congress passed a Civil Rights Act to guarantee black Americans their constitutional rights as citizens, claiming that the Constitution’s Thirteenth Amendment gave Congress the power to pass such laws.

>The Civil Rights Act included a definition for national citizenship, to guarantee that former slaves would forever be free of the infamous Dred Scott decision which declared black people were not American citizens. That provision read, “All persons born in the United States, and not subject to any foreign power, excluding Indians not taxed, are hereby declared to be citizens of the United States.”

>That was the original meaning of the jurisdiction language in the Fourteenth Amendment. A person who is “subject to the jurisdiction” of the United States is a person who is “not subject to any foreign power”—that is, a person who was entirely native to the United States, not the citizen or subject of any foreign government. The same members of Congress who voted for the Thirteenth Amendment in 1865 then voted to define citizenship for freed slaves in a federal law in 1866, then voted again months later in 1866—using only slightly different language—to put that definition of citizenship in the Constitution, language that was ultimately ratified by the states in 1868 as the Fourteenth Amendment.

>In 1884, the Supreme Court in Elk v. Wilkins noted that the language of the Civil Rights Act was condensed and rephrased in the Fourteenth Amendment and that courts can therefore look to the Civil Rights Act to understand better the meaning of the Fourteenth Amendment. The Court reasoned that if a person is a foreign citizen, then their children are likewise not constitutionally under the jurisdiction of the United States, and therefore not entitled to citizenship. In fact, the Court specifically then added that this rule is why the children of foreign ambassadors are not American citizens.

>That is why Congress can specify that the children of foreign diplomats and foreign soldiers are not Americans by birth. They’re not “subject to the jurisdiction” of the United States. Congress’s INA does not grant them citizenship; federal law never has.

Lower taxes for every bracket, Bernie Sanders proposes $19.6 trillion in tax hikes over ten years.

inb4 "the rich will pay for it"

The total net worth (Net Worth =/= annual income, mind you) of every single millionaire and billionaire in this country is about $2.5 trillion, every year the national debt in this country increases by $2 trillion, so taxing the rich at even 100 percent will do approximately jack shit to resolve the underlying fiscal insanity and failure, as well as the problems with the Fed, Trumps tax plan cuts taxes for everyone, rich or poor, so given the choice between exorbitant tax hikes and less taxes and rational adult will choose less taxes.

I read Trump's book. It's simple, heartfelt, and great. He clearly has a very common-sense policy he wants to subject America to and I entirely believe he is capable of it. All throughout his book he emphasizes how he is a winner who knows how to make deals and get things done. He has built many buildings and golf courses all over the world and never lets anything get in his way.

For this reason I believe he will be an effective president and a tough negotiator who will always get the better deal. He will fix our country's immigration problems, strengthen the economy, improve the infrastructure, and sideline special interest groups and lobbyists.

However, I highlighted in the book every time he calls Israel "America's best ally." He says that phrase or a similar one at least 6 times. He offers no criticism of Israel and seems to understand nothing about how our "special relationship" with them is harmful, nor how our support of Israel's foreign policy goals is what is creating so much unrest in the middle East, anti-Americanism, and terror. Under a Trump presidency I see more aid given to Israel, more offending the Arab world, more of the same Zionist domination of the education system and media.

Donald takes a hardline with nearly everything that counts except for Israel, who is, along with China, most deserving of it. I wish that he had the political sensibilities to understand something like this.

But by a long shot, he is the best we have. It's not like any other candidate is taking a hardline with Israel so it doesn't bother me that much. It's just what makes him be a good candidate instead of a great one.

Common struggles don't mean much to one's ability to make a country better and economically strong. Many people who "grew out of struggle" turn into ruthless monsters when they taste power. They'll put firing squads to anyone who disobey them. Trump is accustomed to power on the other hand.

I believe Trump is genuinely angered with Washington's corrupt politicians. The unexpected vast oceans of support he's been receiving from regular Americans seem to have really affected him. Consider one more angle. Arguably, no other candidates are more driven in the race who are as motivated by wanting to go down in the history books with a positive legacy. Tied with Bernie Sanders perhaps. Ironically, an unyielding drive for greatness can be the most positive way of doing right by the American people. It becomes a mission that's one and the same.

The only good reason I could give you is that Trump is inexperienced and Gary Johnson is the single best candidate this year and all years. But since Johnson has 0 coverage, and absolutely nobody knows who he is, Trump or Hillary are our best options since they'll block TPP. Trump exudes leadership and frankly is good friends with Putin. Considering Putin managed to wrangle Russia's national bank under his control, we might see Trump take a crack at bringing the Federal Reserve under control. Another good reason not to vote Trump is that we have no idea how congress will react to him as president.

Wallstreet arguments are not applicable to Trump, he may invest here and there, but he isn't a stock broker, speculator or trader leeching off the economy.

After reading some Ron Paul I have more objections to Trump.

Trump is still part of the problem, if less so. He is an interventionist, talks about wanting to "strengthen the military," which can only mean more defense spending, and has hawkish foreign policy views. He does not at all seem to want peace and trade with all nations while avoiding entangling alliances. With Trump, I'd predict a prolonged presence in the Middle East and perhaps wars of influence against Chinese and Russian partisans. I feel that Trump will just continue the legacy of Bush and Obama. That is singularly terrible.

Again, on the subject of Israel, Trumps love of Israel is extremely troubling. He wants to make himself seem like a self-financed candidate who doesn't bow to special interests, but if he can't speak out against Israel and the Israel lobby, then that pokes holes in his theory. I don't care if he is just saying it to get votes. He's just another sly politician then.

Don't get me wrong. Trump is better than the other Republican and Democratic candidates by a long shot.

I agree with this poster mostly. >>7274

He flip flops on issues, and at one moment says that he likes someone before turning around and saying that he never liked the person. He has never been consistent. He is a poor diplomat with no tact, he claims that the Chinese love him because some billionaires buy his houses, but in reality public opinion and media portrayal could not be worse. He is not honest, and thinking that he is honest is just hillarious. He doesn't follow up on statements, simply dismissing others and shilling himself because "he's a winner, and trust me, we are going to win". He claims bullshit numbers and doesnt cite them, simply saying that he heard them, spewing shit like "the real employment rate is 42 percent", ignoring that all credible sources put it at the very maximum 15%. He claims he forsaw the destabilization of Iraq. And yet, he only said anything negative of the Iraq War 1 year after it had taken place when leftist had long began to criticize it, and before it had happened there are only meager, definitely not "loud and clear" as he claims, support of the Iraq War. There are many, many more inaccuracies, and the list goes on.
