Not the best night for Trump. He's not totally wrong on the TPP deal if you carefully parse his words, but he wasn't aggressive enough to pursue specifics.

Trump is still the best candidate there, but blurting out the same campaign stump sound bites is getting really old now. It was a chance for him to show off economic expertise and instead he went for things like, "We're gonna build a wall! It's going to be a great big beautiful wall.... blah blah".

He wants to play it safe. Talking about China is safe. Talking about all the evil things in TPP will make him more enemies, and he might not have a problem with these things anyway.

This has always been his style, no specifics, just populist talk. It's smart thing to do the first couple of times, but if you keep repeating this shit in every debate, people will think you have no idea what you are talking about.
