Get France the fuck out there, and China as well. Most of africa does really badly because they are not democratic. In non democratic countries, things like violence and corruption are generally the best way to survive everywhere. France is really the key to how little democracy there is in Africa. France still holds a lot of influence over many of their previous colonies, enough influence that they will ensure that people not as beneficial for france will never win an election.

You can compare it to, for example, Egypt and their Muslim broherhood. Look at the fucking events that happened there. The millitary does the right thing and takes over things after the fall of the first regime, they make pretty fair elections happen, and suddenly a pretty hardcore muslim party wins. The military allows it to happen for a little while, but suddenly steps in and takes over again, holding a second, much less fair election in which they win. If that whole thing does not scream US influence to you, you may not understand how the world works. Yes, the muslim brotherhood would likely have been a pretty bad choice for Egypt, but thats not that bad, Egypt was still in the mood for revolutions anyway, so once they did too badly, they would be taken care off by actual egyptians. The french revolution wasn't solved in one go either.

This is what the french have been doing in Africa for the last so many years. They will prevent candidates that do not allign with them, making it so those that stand in the ellections have to care less about their country and more about what france wishes.

You can look at statistics of democratic countries and non democratic countries, at the same GPD, the democratic countries will just trash the non democratic ones in things like health care and violence. Even those with a lot higher GDP but no democracy will often be a lot worse in terms of human rights, corruption, violence and health care. Right now, the thing we really have to look out for is China, China saw their chance to get power in Africa and they are by far worse than france, if they get more power, every european country can expect way more african refugees/illigal immigrants. And violence all acros china will get way worse.
