These people can help themselves by not shitposting, not replying to shitposts, and having a clean posting history. In the event that they get wrongfully banned, I do read ban appeals hourly, and I have no issue with resolving the issue through appeals.

Let me ask you
Who is better at spotting shills? The mods or the users? At face value neither. A mod could be good or bad, and so could the userbase. /pol/ before the second exodus seemed to have a pretty good mix of mods who could spot shills and users who could spot shills. They also knew what to do about it (in my opinion, sage, report and move on while the user waits for a mod to ban the shill).
What is a shill? That's for another thread but suffice to say that shills are not good for a board.
There are two approaches to the shill. One is banning him outright. The other is countering his posts so that the community knows the topic in discussion more fully or so that the community can better recgonise the shill for next time. Both are valid.
But what happens when the userbase no longer knows what a shill is? It is the job of the moderator, endowed with special talents, to spot and ban them. We should be recruiting mods who are able to spot shills and ban them. There are a lot of people who are butthurt at the power that a mod must have to do this. But a user is not like a mod and lacks his power. If a user is better than the mod at spotting shills, then they should become the mod.
tl;dr we need more mods of better quality to combat shills. Do you really think it is a practical solution to educate the vast majority of users on /pol/ to be able to spot shills? The answer is, of course, no.

If you guys are so interested in that 28 day ban, its other posts consisted of mocking users for having opinions it disagreed with, shitposting unironically, and calling users who believed in nationalism "Racists (complete with mid-sentence capitalization), "bigots" and "stormweenies". This was also the same night I banned 4 other SJWs making similar shitposts, so I felt reasonably sure it was a part of a raid or IRC/skype/IM link by SJWs. I make sure to call this thing an "it", as I could have no way of telling, but I'd imagine it is either a dumb cunt, a faggot white-knight, or tranny scum. I don't know which is worse.
You have to do something really stupid over a multitude of posts to get a 28 day ban from me, and that's what happened here.
