Michael and I discussed this morn, but here’s the summary and attached script for a potentially very big AFFIRM project.

Logline: After the death of the latest self-proclaimed Messiah, Pilate commands Clavius, his military tribune, to be sure of one thing: take every measure to ensure the radical followers of Jesus don’t steal the body and claim resurrection. And on the third day, the tomb is empty.

The film is being produced and financed by Mickey Liddell, at a budget of about $25M (60 day shoot), shot in Spain and Malta. Cast is not significant, with the biggest name being Joseph Fiennes playing Clavius (also Peter Firth as Pilate, and Cliff Curtis as Jesus). We could get the movie worldwide, for no MG but a wide release (in the U.S) commitment.

Mickey very much wants to beat Ben Hur (Feb. 2016 release from Paramount/MGM) into the market, and we agree with him. Thus, it appears the right time to release this movie is holiday 2015. I have some ideas about specific dates, but that’s a more detailed discussion. Hopefully, the typical high marketing costs needed for that period can be offset by the kind of grassroots work AFFIRM did on HIFR.

I can’t say the screenplay is great, but it’s decent and the best resurrection story we have read. Rich feels that this approach (seen through the eyes of a Roman, who converts) will work for the faith-based audience. I had some concerns with the prior draft that a few beats could play anti-Semitic (which were not intentional from the filmmaker), but those beats have been cleaned-up. However, I would still want to get a ‘Jewish scholar’ read to make sure we’re on firm ground.

We just got the new draft so don’t have coverage on it. We haven’t gotten divisional input yet for a P&L, but with Sony putting up only P&A and acquiring the world, the P&L will look good.

The Denver audience at tonight’s screening of Annie was noticeably less excited and enthusiastic as the audience we saw in Long Beach and scores reflected this attitude felt in theater. Kids’ scores remained robust but parents’ scores took a significant hit. The difference in ethnic compositions between the screenings has an impact on the scores. In Long Beach, the 29% AA and 24% Hispanic audiences had excellent ratings more than 10 points higher than Caucasians which accounted for an uptick in overall scores. Tonight we had a less than 20% Hispanic audience and even less AAs. We’re used to seeing a drop in scores when we take family fare out of LA but there’s clearly something holding back these parents that we hope to learn when going through the cards tomorrow morning. Scores are below and takeaways from the focus group follow.

Loyalty is the theme of the evening, though I am not quite sure why. But I do want to thank everyone who was so loyal as to come out tonight and who so generously supported this event. I also want to thank the AJC for this honor and I especially want to thank Howard Stringer, Jane Kaczmarek, Rabbi Finley, and my brother-in-law for making the time to participate in this evenings proceedings.

As I said, loyalty is the theme for this evening. It is difficult to dispute the virtues of loyalty and I value it highly. I am a loyal friend. And I am very loyal to my convictions and beliefs. But in thinking about this evening, I got to thinking, when is loyalty to an idea a potential liability. When is unexamined loyalty to an idea good and when does it lead to complacency.

I grew up in The Netherlands in the 60’s and 70’s.

>The Dutch were loyal and proud of the “idea” of their exceptional tolerance and liberal acceptance of minorities. They were particularly loyal to the idea that they had treated the Jews in an exceptional way during the war. So loyal, that they never bothered to examine the truth of that idea.

In fact, they hid behind the Anne Frank myth and never questioned their true behavior. Never asked why there were as many members of the Nazi Party in Holland per capita, as in Germany. Why the German army was welcomed into Amsterdam by Dutch housewives with cups of coffee with almost no resistence. Why of the 155,000 Jews that lived in Holland in the 30’s (out of 8mm Dutchmen), only 15,000 were left after the war. And my family never questioned this despite the fact that they had lived in Holland during the 30’s and half of them wound up in the camps and in hiding while the other half came to America in 1940. It was all left unquestioned and unanswered to the point that my family returned to the scene of the crime in the late 60’s when they moved back to the Netherlands. As I was growing up I cannot remember any of the Dutch behavior during the war ever being described other then in glowing terms even by my own family. This was just 25 years after the war and yet no one talked about the empty Jewish ghetto in Amsterdam or the “collaborators” who still lived in our midsts. There were and are no Holocaust museums in Holland.

>And unlike Germany, which has vigilantly examined itself during this period (and where there are many Holocaust museums), the Dutch have been complacent about their view of themselves and this has led to a kind of quiet shame which occasionally erupts and exposes itself, as with their recent treatment of the Muslim population. And today as the truth becomes known, it eats at the core of the country and has caused huge problems with the younger generations who are leaving in droves because they feel that they were raised with a lie. The myth of the exceptional tolerance of the Dutch has been exposed.

And this brings me to tonight and America. We in America are justifiably loyal to the idea of our exceptionalism. Our exceptionalism relies on a number of important concepts which importantly include freedom of speech and a right to privacy. We know that these rights are critical to a successful democracy and the world looks to us to exemplify these ideas. It also looks to us to be a staunch and loyal ally who can be relied on to practise what we preach.

I believe in the idea of American exceptionalism. I have lived in a lot of places and have more then my fair share of passports and I cannot think of country that shines with a brighter light. But I do not think we can be complacent about our exceptionalism. We have to be vigilant that what we believe to be true is demonstrated by our actions. Unfortunately, the last couple of weeks have exposed terrible faults in our behavior toward our allies which seem to violate the very rights to privacy that we hold dear. And those actions seem to have gone unsupervised for over a decade. Many of these actions were coincidentally perpetrated against Germany (a country which ironically prizes privacy above all else because of it’s history with the Holocaust). My experience in Holland has taught me that conviction and loyalty to an idea is only good to a point. When it goes to the place where behavior and practice goes unexamined, then it has gone too far. We are only as exceptional as our behavior on any given day demonstrates us to be. And we are too great a country to ever grow complacent about that notion. While the recent exposure of our behavior is painful, and the manner in which the reporting was done is highly suspect, I feel that it is ultimately healthy for the long term survival of our democracy and it will allow us to live up to the exceptionalism that we are so loyal to. Thanks you.

Meanwhile, after Sammy’s relationship with Jeb’s daughter Paula is almost destroyed when her former boyfriend sends out a picture of Sammy and Paula together, Sammy’s help in getting a lawyer to help get Jeb released brings them back together. But he is kicked out of the house after his wealthy father learns that Sammy hired the lawyer to help Jeb, but Jeb and his wife take in Sammy. After that, Sammy and Paula reconcile and Sammy helps Jeb organize the protests for future marches in Washington. And in a brief epilogue 5 years later, the protests have grown even more, so Congress is about to pass some bills to reduce inequality and create more racial harmony. The film ends with a bigger peaceful protest in Washington, with a shot of Jeb and Sammy about to speak to the millions of people in the march or watching it on TV

This script would make a very timely film inspired by the issues of inequality and the continuing disadvantages faced by blacks and Hispanics made worse by the disparity of income in America. The film is designed to spark a dialogue about racial issues by showing alternate perspectives by presenting two interlocked stories about a struggling white family and a wealthy black family linked by the relationship of their teenage daughter and son. It is designed to be both entertaining and present a powerful and timely message about the need for increased equality and justice in America.

As for me, I was inspired to write this after my experiences of racism and growing income disparity in a small Southern city. I have worked with a professional scriptwriter to help bring this story to the screen.

Dear Michael,

Thanks so much for getting together this week. It was a total pleasure, and I look forward to working together.

When we announced Everytown for Gun Safety, >we were convinced that we needed to build a counterweight to the gun lobby,

which has had the field to itself for a generation. This takes money, which is

I believe we have the critical elements in place: a 50-state grassroots operation led by Moms Demand Action; a well-funded super PAC that will hold elected officials accountable for their votes; a policy and legal shop that knows this issue inside and out; and a communications and social media team that gets our message out to our 1.9 million members (with a goal of 2.5 million members by year’s end) and the press and public. In the end, this has to be about the safety of our kids and grandchildren, and not about the Second Amendment.

While we are headquartered in NYC and DC, we are increasingly convinced that, like marriage equality, this is an issue that has to be fought state by state. That’s why our recent wins in Washington State, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Louisiana are so significant. At the same time, we’ll always keep a watchful eye on federal legislation and opportunities. While this issue is not for the faint of heart and will require a commitment for the long haul, I’m optimistic that we can match the NRA, which is facing steep hurdles as the country becomes more suburban and urban, and which is forced to take extreme stands that are out of touch with its members and the general public.

Your offer to help means a lot to us. As we discussed, this effort cannot stand on the shoulders of one person, and I sincerely hope that you and Jamie will join our Founders Circle with a $100,000 donation. Thanks for being part of the fight.

Because whenever the writers/editors try (and they do. constantly.) the readers could not give less of a fuck. They choose to address this problem by altering or supplanting already established characters (that are almost uniformly white, heterosexual men, as you might expect from characters created in the early part of the twentieth century) with characters that embody some hot minority. The ideal solution being not only adding a new gay/black/trans character but removing an established white oppressor. Obviously it never works out, because the only people who might care are already attached to an earlier incarnation of the character, but this is universally viewed as a symptom of endemic prejudice in comic readers rather than comic readers growing bored with pandering and arbitrary characterization and generally poor standards in writing/art.

Because it isnt about having the thing they want (in this case, a gay super hero), because that isnt really what they want. What they want, is to TAKE AWAY what "white males" have. To degrade, destroy, change, or out right steal what it is "white males" have and enjoy.

Again look at games. Literally anyone can make a game, write the story, create the characters, design the system, etc. And they could do all this and make the characters they want to see in the game, be it a "demisexual polyromantic amorphorous genderfluid transotherkin feminist" or whatever other crap they come up with, with the exact type of "game" they want (ie: no gameplay, no battles, just point and click, or listen to narration). But it isnt ABOUT having that thing, because they dont really WANT that thing, they dont WANT to play games, or read comics. they just want to destroy the thing that "white males" like.

You notice you never hear this crap about rap music, or thug movies, or "gang culture," or any of that stuff. Why is that? Because, its not about letting these groups (fags, trannies, women, etc) be able to have something that appeals to them. Its about destroying things WHITE MALES like and participate in.

Its why you see white male characters being the ones constantly changed. Thor becoming a woman. ice man becoming gay. Spiderman becoming a nigger. See any white women becoming men? See any niggers becoming white? See any black women becoming asian girls? Nope nope nope.

Very surreal in it's prediction of 'anti racist' dogma. It probably is a good representation of what would actually be necessary to implement the change /pol/ dreams of. Also I think it shows the absolute necessity of having a firm objective and being prepared to use any means necessary to obtain it.

Cannot say I agree with alot of morally, especially the Day of the Rope, where it just turns into a Neo-Nazis wet dream.I can see why it is really banned though, can't have the Goyim thinking about a real, non communist revolution.

It was a very fun and in every way enjoyable read, despite not being the best work of literature by far. Had some good truth and nuggets of wisdom in it.

What was particularly appealing to me was that it was believable, and the psychology behind the characters and the organization. If you are to take away anything from the novel, it's what it said about the couch potatoes and conservative psychology where they'll talk about how the government is wrong but will give up their arms and refuse to fight because they'd lose their comfort. Most people didn't revolt until they were regarded as criminals or had no other choice

One thing I don't think he foresaw was how white men and women would be turned against each other. Western women have become the vanguard of 'The System' and they don't even know it.

Thanks to rampant feminism and liberalism, women are married to the state, which is married to kikes. Most dark, half and blacks seem to be happy to "ally" with one another if it means bringing down Whites too, despite hating each other. Cis-het white men have near the whole system against them at the moment. I just hope that it can be reversed, but first to do that, we need to make that reversal "trendy".

Reminds me of a funny part of the novel. All the left wing youth were always against the system and were revolutionary rebels in a che guevara t-shirt wearing kind of way because that was the hip thing to be. But when a real revolution occurred the media made it trendy to be 'pro-System'.

And that's not far off what we have today. Leftists are the most pro-system people outside of the system, demanding that it become authoritarian to avoid anyone being offended. They're a bunch of fucking morons. Not that most conservatives are any better.
