When it comes to boards I highly suspect the /pol/ ownership never transferred, and that it was always basically moderated by the enemy. But when it comes to the site itself, I don't have much for you. I find the Frederick Brennan story a bit suspect but not totally so (his background, the Jewish employer, the Ad Council ads here). Also I remember seeing info on 4chan back before 8chan was even a thing, explaining how 2ch was a US intelligence operation, however Google has not been my friend when I try to dig this info back up. (From what I remember, 2ch was started in the US, ended up linked to to a bunch of suspicious things around Japanese rightwing politics, and of course they host 8chan too)

The more rightwing element was purged from 4chan purposefully and 8chan was there waiting to take us in. I don't have anything more concrete than that really but it's hard to trust anything
