>>5374We had something similar happen in my old town a few years ago. Some old cunt made a complaint to the state because a teenager was unsafely shooting squirrels in one of the more densely populated neighborhoods. This triggered a mandatory review of firearm discharge policies in the whole area, 90% of which is literally farmland with houses here and there.
The state department of natural resources failed to publicly announce the public hearing on this, as law requires, trying to pull a meeting with only anti-gunners in attendance. News leaked out the same day as the meeting and people got ANGRY. I went there with my landlord and his family, we barely got in before the Fire Department said the building was beyond capacity. It was tense in the room, the state people were nervous, and it ended up dozens of comments against changing the rules with only two comments for restriction.
The state did their mandatory research but just let it fade and changed nothing. It would have been silly to ban discharge, the area is full of sport shooters and hunters, many with FFL 3. Not at all uncommon to hear fully automatic weapons being safely fired (into backstops). The kid with the .22 could have been dealt with under existing law without triggering the state to come in and meddle with shit.
I was told the same thing happened a decade prior so I imagine they'll keep trying every so often. Of course, the area continues to slowly build up with refugees from the local shithole city and they'll bring their failed politics with them
