Focusing on obtaining absolute perfect lines is crippling trap new artists fall into. You might be more comfortable with color theory. If you OK with shading but having trouble with lines JUST skip them completely and try painting. No lines, only shapes and values. Seems like you will do well with this approach but have to be dedicated and not stray.

The idea came from this image. I liked the face and eyes, and tried to make it work. Me personally, I like the long slender muzzle, opposed to the short stubby one. I usually keep a good deal of references of solutions that I like around so that I can inspect them often and decide if I should keep them or not.

You're not supposed to use references like these for making your own work that you want to publish, only for practice and to get the idea how it all fits together.
At least that's what I've been told, although I have no reason not to believe it since it came from a trustworthy source.
What I want to know is how to construct a body properly without mistakes, but that seems to be really difficult for some reason.
I've also once heard that you can only replicate poses that you've already drawn before, so there may be some truth to that. But then how does everyone else make draw their ponies?
Then there is also the fact that most of the art is angled in such a way so as to trick and lie to the casual observer into thinking that it is anatomically correct, when it is not.
This is a fucking mess.

The best thing you can expect from posting your art on the internet is the feedback from random people, and you'll usually get enough of that on chans. gimp can do brush dynamics for most tools. it has presets like pressure opacity, pen, and random, and editor for them. (assuming gimp can detect the tablet and its pressure, see "input devices" menu)
i don't know about krita, but it's probably better for drawing and painting. i use gimp for photo manipulation and finishing.

I've used Krita before, and as long as you know which color settings to pick for making canvases, you will have an easy time with it.
Here is something I made in Krita to give you an idea. I tend to not work with pen size varying with pressure though.

I'll be honest, I hate coloring. But only irl, I tried out my friends parents graphic tablet once, and it was great. I could color huge swathes in a couple strokes, in stead of say colored pencils, which is tedious as hell.
