I'm soo glad you made a thread wondering about the appeal of MLP because there's nothing I love more than telling new friends about the magic of friendship. My Little Pony is great because it's a complex and deep show which teaches love and tolerance, which I follow 100%. The brony fanbase is the most accepting and loving group of people on earth especially for people like me who are on the autistic spectrum. It has done so much good for the world and stopped so many people from killing themselves and therefore My Little Pony is the best and most important show ever made!

I would recommend you watch this episode to understand the appeal more, this is the very best episode in my opinion and also one of the brony favorites:

MLP was never good, and this whole thing has always been a joke. Just like baneposters, we've spent the past five years pretending to worship something we all agreed was shit, and the whole thing developed into a shitposting culture of its own.

Everything from the first pony threads on /co/ and /b/ to the terrible autism fests on DA was all part of the joke. The biggest ruse in history. For five years now we've been pretending to be retarded, and we've played our part so well that we've become some of the most hated people in existence.

I'm actually here for the plethora of free fiction derived from it that sometimes has great little gems that are incredibly inspiring in my own writing pursuits.

Show really is shit, though. It's far surpassed by other similar cartoons like Gravity Falls.
