Pony Language Anonymous 03/17/16 (Thu) 08:48:24 5443bf No.226901
Do ponies speak our language or is it just translated for our convenience? Do they speak some weird horse language? If we went to Equestria and started saying things would they understand us?
Also are there any fanfics that explore this premise?

IIRC, we had banners reading 'WELCOME PRINCESS CELEST', and we had book like in the picture. Since the banner text was actually important to the story and the title to the book was not it could make sense that the banner was thanslated but the book was not. Then again; the Crystal empire could be the lingual japan/china of equestria and have a completely different alphabet to the 26 character one we and equestria usually use.

I always thought that if the writers were autistic enough to devise an entire language for this show, then I would be autistic enough to learn it

Maybe the text in that book are like ancient hieroglyphs to them

Sorry; I didn't notice you were using the Cyrillic alphabet instead of the Latin one when sending messages to this board. Sorry for using the term 'we' in a context with included you.

I almost always assume they have a separate language. That makes 'first contact' stories fun, but then you have to hoof-wave the rest of the story.
I'd attach a .gif of somebody waving their hoof rapidly, but TOR users can't attach. So you'll have to trust me that I'm very good at hoof-waving.

Why are you using TOR for accessing malaysian imageboard about fictional horse languages?

Being able to attach images on such threads is one good reason.

I've seen fanfics where that's a plot detail, such as Stardust or the one with Voltaire, but I'm not aware of any where removing the language barrier is the major plot of the story.

>That makes 'first contact' stories fun
that's what I was looking for
>but then you have to hoof-wave the rest of the story
you could always eventually solve the language barrier with magic, but where is the fun in that?
