Anyone done any dumpster diving?

I've only done it a few times, with a couple more experienced people. There was a group of grocery stores we would scope out. Sometimes there would be a bunch of stuff back there, plenty of great vegetables, enough for several boxes to be filled. Some places also throw away cakes and things. We once had an industrial size freezer full of discarded, high quality ice cream that lasted for months.

Anyway, something I learned from this is (1) use a headlamp, headlamps are great and (2) grab up some wax cardboard boxes from these places too, because wax cardboard is great to have when you're making a fire.

In the US, most grocery stores can't give away "expired" food either, at least not on the west coast. Some do donate the food if it is about to go bad, but not when it's reached the sell by date.

So since I'm posting this here, obviously throwing my shit out isn't an option. I put covers over my box spring and mattress, but they just laid eggs all over those. I've used a steamer a few times, but it doesn't seem to kill them all that long, nor does the poison spray. Does anyone have any methods on getting rid of them better? I'm seriously hoping you guy can help because I've been living with them for a year, and because they're only in my room, my dad doesn't care enough to really help out that much. I've read they're only supposed to feed every few days, but I have them on me every night, and I think they've begun living at my computer desk/on the chair, I even find them living on my flip flops sometimes. I'd occasionally catch them on my school bag last year, but I ditched it. Thankfully they don't travel on my clothes, so at least I can have a social life.

If you live in a copyright-cucked country that cracks down on torrenting maybe newsgroups are a good solution to avoid paying for overpriced media. Here's a few free newsgroup subscriptions:

http://www.ngprovider.com/free-newsgroup-server.php

Most of them require ipv6 or weekly/daily renewed subscription but a couple others do give you actual free access.

OK poverty people, it's time to ask yourselves: Why should I learn how to pickle things? Then answer, because it's really fucking easy, cheap, and tasty. You can keep your veggies (and eggs and bacon) longer if you don't have a fridge and make things more varied and flavorful when you don't have heat to cook with.

must have: salt, water, and jar(s).
more fun to have: vinegar, sugar, spices.

Pickling basically involves chopping up vegetables, dousing them in salt, and then leaving them in brine (salt water or salt water and vinegar plus spices to taste) in a sealed jar to get more and more delicious over time. Vid shows a way to make some sweet and sour carrot pickles.

Things I suggest you attempt to pickle (because I have and it was great): Carrots, beets, cabbage, hard boiled eggs, bacon, onions, garlic, peppers, and apples.

 No.291

Here's how to make sauerkraut. I picked this video because I feel like it really demonstrates how easy this process is.

When making pickled stuff on your own just remember that sometimes a jar will go bad. You can tell easily by looking at it, smelling it, etc. But you don't have to be super fastidious with the process if you are planning to eat your pickled stuff within a few days or weeks. Personally I haven't made something that went bad yet.

 No.293

I wish I could get into pickling. I just don't like the sourness/saltiness that some pickled things seem to have. The only thing I really care for pickled is ginger.

Maybe if I modify it to my tastes, I can get into it.

 No.294

>>293
I find that the carrots i did have a mild taste. After saling them in a bowl i rinsed them and put them in the jar with water, vinegar, and sugar. It ended up being a sweet mild taste.

Hot peppers make stuff spicy which is a nice alternative too.

 No.861

>>293

You may need to consider using the items as a condiment initially. That tends to acclimate one to the saltiness.

For example, sauerkraut (per above) makes for a fine addition to a hot dog.

As a side note, if you lay off salty foods in your drink/diet, they tend to become more appetizing.

 No.888

Eating a lot of pickled food may increase your risk of gastric cancer.

This is politics, not advice for poorfags, but I'll bite.

Trump's main pull isn't in that he is a great leader, diplomat, or economist.

He is shit at all three.

He is great because he is a cunt.

A massive, self-aware ball of crystallized smugness and derision.

No sane person actually thinks this guy is the best man to fill the top executive position in the country – Trump is clearly an ignorant and incompetent fop.

But every single person in this country fucking despises the current political system.

Most of the US populace is comprised of white, lower class blue-collar workers.

Now, who represents these?

The republicans try to, but in their chase after social policies and bible thumping they alienate the majority who are only nominally religious, and want nothing more than to have a stable job, smoke weed and watch tv in their free time, and have enough money to maybe go for a vacation in florida once a year.

But surely, the brave Democrats, who stand up so staunchly for the poor and the downtrodden, represent these people?

Nope, dems are middle class white collars who really, really want to be safe and not feel bad. They want to end the horrific racism against the innocent blacks, having not lived a single day near a black neighborhood. They want to end the terrible financial inequality, having never been forced outside of their lukewarm financial comfort zone. They want to instill reasonable gun laws to regulate all of the scary assault weapons, never having held a gun in their life.

Nobody represents the majority.

And the majority fucking hates that.

It hates the foppery, the mindgames, the political correctness.

It wants to shit the current order of things so bad, and with good reason – that order is a rotting corpse of what was once great.

Trump is not a savior.
