 No.838

Anybody living the trailer life?

 No.844

>>838

Cant afford one. It's one of my greatest dreams to have my own trailer/van.

 No.846

>>844

I got a nice used one for $2,300 (when I had ~$3,000 to my name…phew) and lived in it for about a year.

Buying new is completely senseless. Used is the only way to buy.

It's really worth it tbh. I had to move because I ran out of money to pay rent, but while I was living in there it was the life.

Nice.

 No.901

Next time I am living in a trailer I'm deifnitely gonna try and get some solar panels

 No.904

>>901

How long does it take for solar panels to actually pay for themselves?

 No.913

>>904

Haven't run any numbers yet. But I think I might try these DIY ones >>241

 No.914

>>913

That's badass. I'm going to try that.

 No.917

I'm going to start driving over the road in a couple months, still "live" with my parents for a year or two to save up some money. I would like to move out but renting a house or apartment that I would visit once a month would be foolish.

How expensive is it to own a trailer? I assume you need insurance, a small amount for maintenance, lot fees…

 No.918

>>917

The spot I was renting was $400 a month, plus electricity useage.

 No.919

>>918

Was this a huge lot or something? That still seems pretty expensive.

 No.924

>>917

they usually need a little fixing up, nothing major, just stuff like removing the carpet and replacing it with tile, and replacing the fridge with a big boy fridge and stove for an electric griddle, and maybe getting a window unit if you live in a hot area ( cheaper than hiring someone to work on the antiquated specialty ac's they can have).

also make sure to find out how the septic system works, some of them cant be permanently hooked up to the septic line; you have to wait for them to empty and then flush them out with a special connector that lets you hook a water hose into the line.

>>919

thats not unusual, the one i lived in was 350$ with power, water and cable up until the recession. original owners sold and the new guys jacked it up to 500$/mo.

 No.960

>>924

Geez. You can split a mediocre apartment with one person and pay 500/mo.

 No.1007

Anybody here try going living on the road full time? How was it?

 No.1008

I live in a park model in an annual resort. The snowbirds come down for the winter but plenty hot in the summer. $3200 a year plus electricity, water, sewer, trash. varies from $60 to $300 a month.Depending on how much electricity I use.
