Board for survivalists, homesteaders, freegans, craftsmen, poorfags, hobos, etc. to share knowledge, help each other, chat, and more.

This board's focus is on self-sufficiency and thriftiness, whether you are innawoods, homeless, poor, a homesteader, or simply interested in skills that involve less reliance on money and modern conveniences.

If you have a related board, feel free to post a link ITT.

Sup, /prep/ , I'm new to all this but self-reliance is interesting as hell. I've seen a lot of weapons in boards like these, but that got me thinking. Wouldn't it better if one had a very good camo, a distant location and fewer guns? If there are gunshots in city, people will know that you have munition, weapons and supply. Wouldn't silent traps be better for self-defense?(Especially if it is a lone or paired attacker)

 No.61

as i understand it, the idea of multiple firearms are for bartering or multiple armed individuals defending your bug in/out location

any shotgun or ak will do

 No.60

A short barreled AR15.

It's a reliable and accurate gun that, with good ammo, performs quite well terminally. Fragmenting ammo tends to penetrate fewer walls than other rifle rounds, some shotgun rounds, and most pistol rounds.(Before you act like a faggot and try to argue, google studies on the matter. Easily allows you to mount optics, a sling, a light, IR laser, etc. Extremely common ammo and parts, incredibly cheap these days. Can be concealed with a large overcoat, if necessary. Small enough to maneuver in a car if you have to defend yourself while going somewhere. For me personally, I spent a lot of time carrying and shooting one in the military.

Most importantly of all of these, it can be a very compact, very light weight gun, so your lazy, hungry, scared ass will carry it around with you instead of leaving it propped up against a wall or in the house. It's basically the perfect SHTF rifle.

As far as pistols, I like plastic 9mms. Lightweight, usually 17+ round capacity, common ammo, cheap, etc. I tend towards M&Ps or G19s, but whatever brand you prefer that is a quality pistol is fine.

AKs are alright, I enjoy shooting them, but they're an inferior rifle to the AR15, regardless of what some retard that watched the history channel in the early 2000s told you. If you must have an AK, the number one thing I will tell you is buy good ammo. Buy quality, American made, expanding ammunition. You'll see any issues you have with accuracy disappear, and will have a round that performs like a rifle, instead of a 9mm FMJ.

All of that being said, having any gun and some real training (Not fucking youtube videos of idiots that jumped in a ditch when getting shot at, or kicked out before finishing basic training) will put you ahead of the vast majority of the population.

Measure the size of the pure stone. The larger the aqua piece, the upper you can fixed the price. Massive pieces of turquoise can create a great deal of bucks. Small stones, on the flip side, can attract a much cheaper amount of money.

Have you taken the brown pill yet, mateys?

it's a tough pill to swallow! The brown pill was founded in 1999 by Sir Reginald Brownpill, who presents and narrates the attached video.

Forget red and blue pills, brown pills are the way of the future.

Video related. Please leave your questions, comments, and concerns below about this radical new paradigm of thinking!

How are you storing your fresh water reserves, /prep/?

 No.17

Holy shit, AnonIB…I used to have a board there.

Anyway I don't have water reserves. No place to store anything where I live. But I do live nearby to a major river and between a bunch of sloughs, channels, and tributaries–so I would assume this means I'll be okay if the well shuts off for long.

Not if you live within a few hundred miles of a city or town. Not only will there be, at first, many refuges floating down the river on boats, rafts, whatever they can get there hands on. Also in the longer term those who remain organized in the city will use the river to dump every scrap of trash they produce.

Don't have my own house yet but when I do I plan to bury some supplies in my backyard.

I'm thinking that in one spot I'll put guns/ammo and in another I'll put cash.

I'll dig a deep hole, put in my stuff inside a storage container, cover it with a couple feet of dirt. Then I'll cover it with a couple more feet of dirt and drop in a false payoff in case someone goes digging looking for stuff. I'd put in a small amount of cash or some cheap jewelry or a time capsule or something. Then fill the rest of the hole.

I'll try to hide the spots somehow. Maybe plant some flowers or bushes or when I have kids put a sandbox over it.

Do you bury your stuff? Share your strategy.

Ancient germanic planting technique: Hügelkultur and Hügelbeds

http://www.urbaniahoeve.nl/2012/06/hugelbedden-hugelkultur/?lang=en
http://www.permaculture.co.uk/articles/many-benefits-hugelkultur

Hügelkultur is a composting process employing raised planting beds constructed on top of decaying wood debris and other compostable biomass plant materials. The process helps to improve soil fertility, water retention, and soil warming, thus benefiting plants grown on or near such mounds.[1][2]

Hügelkultur replicates the natural process of decomposition that occurs on forest floors. Trees that fall in a forest often become nurse logs[3] decaying and providing ecological facilitation to seedlings. As the wood decays, its porosity increases allowing it to store water "like a sponge". The water is slowly released back into the environment, benefiting nearby plants.[1]

Mounded hügelkultur beds are ideal for areas where the underlying soil is of poor quality or compacted. They tend to be easier to maintain due to their relative height above the ground.[3] The beds are usually about 3 feet (0.91 m) by 6 feet (1.8 m) in area and about 3 feet (0.91 m) high.[1]

Preppers are fucking idiots who have wet dreams about being heroes and saving the day. All they do is buy guns they have no fucking clue how to use and hoard ammo pushing the prices sky high for normal people. You are arrogant pricks that need to die.

 No.12

Valid point, but I want to establish that this board is more about the skills involved with self-sufficiency. For example, it's more about learning how to milk or skin an animal, or build and repair things, than how to line your apocalypse bunker with bullets and tinfoil.
