I have made a page for privacy recommendations, I thought it might be useful.

Suggestions welcome.

Oh, i think we had a similar idea at the same time.

I just launched >>>/netplus/ for info/discussion of decentralized and anonymity networks.

This sort of content would also be welcome though.

I also set up a Retroshare+tor chatserver for us here udgdahofbq52bzxk.onion . You can find out more about it here >>>/netplus/3 and >>>/netplus/6 so that we can hopefully form a 'darknet' community that anyone can get involved in. I made a setup/config video tutorial so that anyone can get involved even without any /tech/ skills at all.

There are also a couple of write ups on tor and i2p and I will be doing more over the coming days and weeks on other technologies and networks and weeks.

You can use a VPN which will encrypt your network traffic and send it to a server. It basically acts as if you are in another network.

I'm pretty sure TOR would work in this situation.

I also highly recommend encrypting the data on your hard drive with dm-crypt with LUKS (GNU/Linux) or VeraCrypt (Windows)

nice, thanks

i'm on a mac os

if i have to sign onto a google mail account (school email) regularly should i get a new identity before i did something sketchy online?

i guess what i'm asking is what can be done to monitor internet activity if they don't require anything to login?

You shouldn't be logging into anything you would log into normally when you're on TOR/a VPN as that can easily be traced back to you.

If I'm understanding right, you're asking how people can track you other than when you login to sites? They can identify you by your IP address, your browser fingerprint, (the settings you have changed and extensions installed on your browser etc. Visit this site to see your fingerprint: http://panopticlick.eff.org/ ) and cookies and super cookies, (Flash cookies, HTML5 cookies) I may be forgetting some things but that's the gist of it.

Android is Linux based, so what Linux distros are available for Android phones?

There's an app in the play store called "Linux Deploy" or there is a Debian installer on F-Droid called "Lil' Debi". Keep on mind that these are installed via chroot and isn't a complete replacement as it still needs Android under it. Installing Linux without Android is much more complicated.
