Definitely Qt.
Even ignoring the issue between C++ (Qt) and C (Gtk), Gtk is only a Gui toolkit, whereas Qt is also a Graphics library, STL reimplementation, Network framework, Database handler and has a kickass IDE on board.

Second option for small or otherwise non-GUI applications would be wx or fltk, because C doesn't have the features to deliver an adequate toolkit API.

So qt uses its own preprocessor and make utility, and then they want you to use their IDE too. I guess it's more of a, uh, way of life than a library. Fuckin' commies.

It's not a GUI library, it's an application framework.

Like in Unreal 4 isn't a graphics engine but a game engine.

The preprocessor is there due to the fact that C++ was unusable pre C++11.

So is half of their basic types.

However, Qbs replacing anything make-based is a good thing.

QT is cuckoled software by Nokia, which is owned by Microsoft. GTK is perfect. The only people who think otherwise are MS shills who want to shoehorn their shit into the FOSS community or people who are so dumb that in order to build a GUI they need a drag-n-drop thing to do it for them.
