So how can I make money from my programming skills? I know c++ and c# inside out but since I never went to uni and got a degree I have no chance of getting an actual job. How can I make sone money on the side with this stuff though? I've heard that mobile apps are too populated nowadays so that's out.

work on FOSS projects, build a portfolio, send it to one of the billions of companies that are looking for programmers.

quite possibly you'll also meet a programmer online who can get you a job in your area or some freelancing work-at-home stuff.

The part about me knowing it or the part about getting a job? Literally every job I have looked at asks for a degree

also sorry for multiple posts before, mobile is janky as shit

Apply at small ass startups for work/web design companies that are trendy as they generally hire on skill not qualification.

If you need to make money on the side do some online freelancing. A lot of companies nowadays just fork out their projects to freelancing sites on the internet, just set up a decent portfolio beforehand of your personal projects. Get to know a lot of programmers and go to hackathons etc and get some relationships going. It'll land you a job in the future.

Job postings say a lot of things.

Protip: They're generally written by people who have no idea what they're talking about. Apply for the job anyway. I doubt they're paying enough for someone with a degree and 5 years of experience anyway.

Be personable and professional and you can get a job.

DO show your work

DO show a yearn to learn and build your skills

DO be friendly, and try to sound smart but not an asshole

DO NOT be a brogrammer

DO NOT wear anything other than a suit or shirt and tie to an interview

DO NOT be cheesy, crack jokes, or act disinterested

DO NOT give up, you can do it
