Greetings good sirs, python and I went our seperate ways a really long while ago, and the last shitty script i had written before is a web scraper using python 2.

Now that my python skills have rusted, I have been meaning to get into it once again, I have been wondering wether python 2 is outdated or not.

Should I start considering working with python 3 instead of 2 ?

I use a lot of 2.7 since it works and currently handles all the little projects or scripts I need with little-to-no hassle, and in a timely manner. If I was starting fresh I'd look into 3, but there's a LOT of really great modules for 2.7, and the badass module library is one of pythons best features and I'm not sure how extensive 3's is yet.

INB4 hurr hurr pyfaggot. It does what I need, and quickly. Your comments are irrelevant.

Go ahead and use Python 3, it's perfectly ok now.

The differences between python 2 and python 3 are really small, the only significant ones that affected me were the change to integer division and the deprecation of xrange. Most libraries support both versions. I recommend working with 3.

Rusted you say?

If you have to ask the question, you should use Python 3.

The only reason to use Python 2 is if you rely on some very specific libraries which haven't been ported yet.

Python 2.7 is still widely used because migrating enterprises from 2 -> 3 would break the code. Python 3 is better.
