"Life lived in the absence of the psychedelic experience that primordial shamanism is based on is life trivialized, life denied, life enslaved to the ego." ― Terence McKenna

Do you believe that once achieved, liberation-enlightenment is a permanent state of existence?

Lately I've been entertaining the idea that the nature of liberation-enlightenment is impermanent like everything else in our existence. I like to think of it as a state achieved during a session, and with spiritual development you could possibly hold on to it for long periods of time, just like the enlightened beings of the past and present have, but eventually you would descend back into normal game-existence.

I expand on this thinking that committed people with high spiritual efficiency would be able to rest their mind in the ultimate reality at will, but as long as the physical body functions, return would be inevitable. It's worth adding that, at least in Buddhist teachings, there are many mentions of practicing monks who advance in meditation and explore different states of conciousness, have such powerful experiences that they start to believe that they have finally attained nirvana and freedom from cyclic existence, only to find that the movement from one state of being into another awaited them all along.

If the disciplined monk can make the mistake of believing that he has achieved something when he hasn't, it doesn't come as a surprise when so many of us who are on the path make the same mistake. I don't see the use of speculating the levels of enlightenment in ourselves or others. I see it as a distraction and something that is to be avoided.

It's quite the hot topic because there's so many thoughts and views about what it is what we're chasing or hoping to achieve by practicing and studying spirituality.

Another contemplation I have is that since the concept of enlightenment brings with it so many different associations in the minds of people, and because it is thought as a desirable state of being, would it not cause jealousy and disbelief along with other negative emotions in such a degree, that anyone who truly was enlightened, would always decide against proclaiming it to others, for the sake of others?

I totally agree. I've achieved something very close to it. And when you feel so alive and optimistic it's hard not to believe it's the way things will be from now on. I lost focus after a couple years and feel back down to near "sleepwalker" consciousness and about lost my sense of self actualization. I really dislike heading how "once you've got it you'll never lose it. Though one you get there out IS very easy to maintain if you don't drop your guard.

I know this is old but maybe to someone who sees this, "liberation-enlightenment" is actually something that was never lost... You turned your back and forgot what really was. You've grown an ego, and you've grown around your surroundings and as you grow up your subconscious picked up different ways of thinking you must decide if they help you or not. Ecstasy and happiness never left you, you left them.

Seth?

Absolutely not. A lot of people for example try ayahuasca, have this huge revelations that feel life changing, yet within a month or two slip back to their previous behavior patterns without repeated use. Psychedelic enlightenment is a path one follows, not a one-stop permanent change of consciousness.

Nothing you do in terms of Feelings will have any permanent change. If you want real control over your life you will need Reason. Few have the capacity for it.

Start defining reality in mathematical and philosophical terms. If you can't explain what the soul is, what life is or why it's necessary, your entire worldview is very likely wrong. This is an issue of rationalism and ontology. Mystical intuitions (feeling oneness or with the whole) will not get you anywhere. Only reason and mathematics will.

Check out this site if you can handle rigorous logic and hard rational thought. http://armageddonconspiracy.co.uk/

I believe that understanding the true nature of reality is impossible for human beings, and that a worldview cannot be exclusively wrong or exclusively right.

No need to pit feeling against thinking, it's not either or dude. Leave some wiggle room. It's the mark of naivety to be so certain, you should try to not to buy your own bullshit.

Anyhoo, seems like quite the reality you've shaped for yourself, or did someone else do the shaping? Doesn't matter now I guess. Well, how's the endgame, may I ask? And by that I mean, what kind of a worldview is molded by believing in the central doctrines of this belief system? I'm most interested to know about the beliefs you end up with after the "studies" are over, after the homework is done.

What can you use as selling points for this ideology? Have you personally learnt any new tricks or skills from this? Are you happier IRL? How about magic n' stuff? Heightened powers, mindreading, mindcontrol, telepathy, sentient entities you can make contact with, orgies? Any that kind of cool stuff in there? Tell me of the wildest discoveries people will most likely make when mixing their current belief system with the armageddonconspiracy.

I like entertaining different ideas though, so if you care to extend on, for example the soul, and what life is or why its necessary, unanswerable questions to me, but I would gladly hear your conclusions and how'd you got there.

My mind is made up, so don't confuse me with facts.
