WELCOME TO /PUZ/

What is /puz/?
/puz/ is a SFW image-board dedicated to puzzle games, puzzle films, riddles, sudokus, crosswords, mazes, mathematical conundrums, and general puzzle discussion.

Rules:
This board generally adheres to the global 8chan rules, so any NSFW content is to be spoilered. Try to keep to the topic of the board as well, so that means no shitposting whatsoever.

What is this thread?
This is a bit of FAQ meta thread, as well as flags and banners thread. Feel free to ask any questions about the board in this thread, and it would really help us out if you could suggest some banner and flag ideas (or better yet, actually make some for us).

Considering this board reeks of the game portal, how about we exchange some of our best creations on the Portal 2 test chamber creator?

Here's a simple series of test chambers I made a few years ago called the Four Rooms (the first part of the series isn't listed because the final room of the chamber is literally impossible):

The far left one is the odd one out. The far right one is the only one of its size, the green is the only green, the circle is the only circle, the non-outlined square is the only non-outlined square. The far left one, the outlined square, isn't the "only" anything—there are other squares, there are other shapes of the same size, there are other outlined shapes, and there are other red shapes. It's the fact that it doesn't have something unique that makes it the odd one out.

 No.53

>>52

I said the same thing, could never find anyone that agreed with me until now though.

 No.54

>>52

It's the only red square of its size that is outlined.

 No.55

>>54

What about the red square of that size which isn't outlined? That would make it 'unique' also.

 No.56

>>55

That's what I'm saying; they're all unique. I'm pretty sure it was just a joke that shows how humans will try to find patterns in anything. You can take any random string of numbers and figure out some sort of pattern, but it doesn't mean anyone designed it specifically to have that pattern. Trying to find a pattern is pointless.

Alright guys, which methods do you use when solving your cube? For 3x3x3, I really like Roux, and Heise for FMC. Anything bigger I use Cage, except for 4x4x4, which gets reduction > Roux.

Any other cubers out there? Any weird ass method users?

It was a puzzle trying to take it apart and put it back together, but not in a fun way. I don't usually build shit so the whole experience was quite grueling, however I can understand if people find some kind of enjoyment out of this

I'm curious, in what way was it grueling? I've known some people that had trouble figuring out how to get it together, but never too much trouble in actually doing it. I guess if you didn't have a table or something flat to work on it might be a little rough…

It was extremely slow and I didn't quite know what to do, even with the tutorials I found online. I'd rather just solve the cube rather than take it apart and rebuild it

Active user here, not sure if shilling is alright, but if you guys enjoy puzzles, you should come check out >>>/secretrule/

In case you didn't know, it's a board with only one rule, which is a secret. Breaking the rule gets a ban, and users use this information to figure out and guess the rule. When this happens, the person who guesses correctly becomes a mod, and a new rule is put into place.

For what it's worth, I've also recommended some people from secretrule to come here as well.

 No.33

It's perfectly fine to advertise your board here, however this goes for any one else trying to advertise their board too, if you wish to advertise your board, make sure it is somewhat related to puzzle solving in some way. If your board has nothing to do with puzzle solving, this will be seen as spam and will be deleted immediately.

Anyway, go check out >>>/secretrule/ it's fun.

Hey /puz/, let's try and create the biggest maze ever!

Save the previous image before yours and expand it outwards to make it bigger and bigger. You can add curves, portals, diagonal lines, bridges, whatever you want, just try and make it as large and as difficult as possible.

BEG LIKE THE POORFAG YOU ARE

This thread is all about begging for puzzle games on Steam, specifically puzzle games, mixed genres are allowed.

I myself have just finished Half Life 2 and apparently Half Life 2 Episodes 1 and 2 are continuations of the story.

So if someone is kind enough to give me Episodes 1 and 2 I will repay you with a game of your choosing.

Please send it to:

http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198072071427/

Thank you!
