There are three potential questlines I have prepared for this, and the choice is yours.

Take the role of the White Shadow, a mysterious swordsman and vagabond in the medieval lands! Balance political relations as a neutral party, take sides, double-cross your rivals!

Or, see the world through the eyes of Jack Cuervo, Private Eye! Get to the bottom of the case and see to it that the guilty party gets their just desserts!

Last but not least, we have Dex, bounty hunter extraordinaire! Travel the solar system in search of the next quick buck, legitimately or otherwise!

The royal guards bring you into a chamber where the royal family is seated at a long table. The soldiers all keep a close eye on you, seeing to make sure you don't make a sudden leap for the king's throat.

"Ah, White Shadow, I have heard much about your exploits! I hope the journey was not too arduous. I have a matter of utmost importance that I would like you to attend to. You see, in just a few days there will be a meeting between the leaders of all the local kingdoms. Many powerful people will be present. As you can already see, it is very likely that one or more assassins may attempt to disrupt the proceedings. Were any to fall prey to such an attack, it would be utter disaster and could even spark outright war. As a suitably neutral party, we need you to be our security advisor. It is not that I do not trust my own men, I put my life in their hands daily. However, the other kingdoms could see it as an act of intimidation if I were to place them in charge."

The king takes a sip from his grail, and sets it down on the table. "In addition to the negotiations, there will be a few arranged marriages held shortly afterward to solidify the peace talks. My son and daughter shall each be partaking in the event, as it is the duty of the royal bloodline and the kingdom to persist through these trying times." The younger members of the king's family look over in your direction. A bold, perhaps brash young man, and a graceful young lady. Their royal blood is clearly evident, and the family resemblance is very strong in them.

"Now then, the trickiest part will be the negotiations with the Taurus Clan. Our kingdoms have been rivals for the past two centuries, and hopefully this will be the first step to peace between us. I have heard battlefield tales of the king as well as his son, and if even half of them are true, then we must be alert at all times. Their brutality knows no ends. The Kyoza Temple are agreeable enough, I suppose, but their culture is much different than ours. Hopefully nothing becomes miscommunicated between us. And finally, the Black Den Monks will be visiting us…I know nothing but whispers and rumors of them. Some in my kingdom did not believe they even existed…I suppose we will have much to learn about them."

He takes another sip from his grail, but suddenly jolts forward. "Ah! I had nearly forgotten! This here is Commander Gestalt, leader of my fine knights. If you have any questions or concerns regarding military matters, feel free to consult him." The commander bows his head slightly in respect. "If the king trusts you, then I shall as well. I am at your service."
