Welcome candidate,

Today we will be running a simulation to test your command aptitude. Please get comfortable, as the battle may take a while, and you are expected to see it to the end. Under your command today are:
Rika Manabe aka. Djibril.
Sayuka Kōenji aka. Beat Angel Escalayer, or Escalayer for short.
Takamori Haruka aka. Beat Blade Haruka.
Hikari Misono aka. Venus Pink.
Kiyomi aka. Venus Blue.

The enemy is currently attacking in three locations:
NW of us is an attack taking place in an amusement park. We have evidence that the attacks are being led by a stronger monster.
A school NE of this location is being terrorized by perverted frog-like creatures.
Due North, a large number of women are being kidnapped. This attack is also being led by a stronger creature.

Before you decide where to deploy the girls, please take a moment to review the mechanics of this simulation.

This thread is going to be a test of the combat system for Sexy Mahou Shoujo Wars Quest. I'm trying to convert what should by all rights be a turn-based strategy into a quest. I think I came up with a combat system that accomplishes this, but this thread is here to see if I succeeded.

HP/Armor/Barrier: A magical girl has a uniform which redirects all damage that would have gone to her to said uniform. I'm not planning on giving numerical HP values, rather I'll make qualitative statements about her status. If a girl's uniform is destroyed, she is incapacitated. She loses her powers and is vulnerable to bodily damage, capture, rape, etc.

Amore/Doki Doki Dynamo/Energy: This is what magical girls use to fight. It's used for transformation, slowly used up over time while transformed to maintain the transformation, and used up by performing special attacks. Melee attacks are free. A girl that runs out of energy can perform one final special attack (casting from HP) before becoming incapacitated, or allow the transformation to come to and end and merely become tired and back in her civilian form. Also planning on using non-numerical values.

Named enemies: Named enemies will have similar stats as to above. Values hidden from players.

Grunts: In order to not draw out the battle too much, grunts behave like buffs/debuffs/shields for named enemy characters. A group of grunts is treated as one enemy unit, its combat performance and roll penalty depends on the number of grunts in the group.

Roll mechanics:
Girls: best of (median or mean of (3d100)) eg. 64,31,71 median is 64, mean is 55.3, so median will be selected. Damage will be factored in based on degree of success (each multiple of 10 over DC rating). Critical success (natural 100) overrides this mechanic. Critical failure (natural 1) overrides everything except critical success.
Protagonist: As the protagonist, fate smiles more upon you. Protagonist rolls are best of 3d100. Additionally, since you are commanding the battles from your base, you can choose to give a leadership bonus to any group of up to three of your girls that are fighting together.

Leadership bonus: Any girl that is under the effect of your leadership bonus receives protagonist level dice rolls (best of 3d100). Critical failures override everything except critical success.

Other bonuses: Describing an action (whether regular attack or special attack, or even dodging) that one of the girls should take gives a bonus of between +5 and +15 depending on how detailed the description is.

Special attacks: Drain energy based on power. Can use any attack from canon (that has been unlocked) or make up your own. Use creativity.

Combination attacks: Both girls must pay an energy cost, the attack must be described. Also, girls performing a combination attack must have a good relationship between them (developed during non-combat portions primarily, assume it is there for this test run).

The School seems like it's under a lesser degree of attack than the other two locations, so you send only one girl there.

Sayuka is the first to arrive at the school, it being the nearest. Arriving there she sees ten toad like creatures attacking various girls, mostly tearing their clothes off and licking any exposed bits of skin. Total, there are ten of these creatures, but they seem to be preoccupied at the moment.

Not much later, Rika and Hikari arrive at the amusement park. The two girls find what looks like a three headed mascot commanding ten Fu-men. They seem to focusing on doing as much damage as they possibly can to the park.

Haruka and Kiyomi are still on their way to the city center.

Sayuka:

Of course you order them to immediately transform upon leaving the base, there's no point leaving them vulnerable to attack while transforming.

You order Sayuka to attack the toads. They're small fry and she shouldn't have a problem taking care of them, them. There's no need to be fancy.

She tries to use her energy whip to knock down as many of the toads as she can. Unfortunately, she doesn't seem fully there. She only hits one of the toads that she attacked. Although it dies from the single hit, it's partner attacks her and tears her right stocking to shreds. The other eight toads notice the commotion and leave their targets alone for a moment to focus on the newcomer.

You order Rika and Hikari to attack the Fu-men, ignoring the Joy-frust for now. Rika begins with a flying kick at one of the Fu-men. However, her flashy attack is noticed by the Joy-frust and hit by a soundwave from its duckhead, and falls out of the sky. The Joy-frust wraps Djibril in a tentacle-like tongue which begins dissolving her uniform where it makes contact with it.

Venus Pink has better luck, her attack, although less flashy, connects with one Fu-man, followed by a second. However, the enemy is fully focused on attacking. Three of the Fu-men are close enough to land a hit on her. The damage is redirected to both shoulders of her pornilicious sailor outfit, shredding it.

The area is filled with what looks like dissolved humans, and plenty of naked women. The monster is firing his yellow cannons haphazardly, dissolving the clothes off of any women it hits, and dissolving men. The grunts, clad all in black either raping the nude women, or capturing them and leaving with them

She pauses for a moment, unsure which of her several special attacks to use. She decides to use Beat End Escalation. She puts the Doki Doki Dynamo into maximum output and swings her whip. An black explosion surrounds the front-most creature, and expands in an X shape to consume to nearby toads as well. The black X explodes again (yes, the explosions explode), and lasers shoot out in all directions, but somehow only draw an X on the ground.

Rika takes a moment to free herself of the tongue and examine her damage. Her sleeves are ripped to shreds, her midriff is showing through her torn leotard.

The two other have their damage redirected to Hikari's short blouse. Unfortunately for them, the food monster notices them. He aims his yellow back cannons at Haruka and fires. He misses, but the liquid splashes off the ground and some droplets hits Haruka's stockings.

The uniform absorbs the damage, but Kiyomi still rolls back.

You order an all out attack on the monster with a plate of curry for a hat.

Sayuka starts the attack; she uses her whip to hit the monster from the side. The monster turns to face Sayuka for a counter-attack, only to get hit in the back by a flying strike from Rika. The monsters turns around again, this time coming face to face with Hikari.

The monster grins fiendishly, leans down and fires its cannons. At this close range, Hikari can't dodge the blast of slime. She tries to block herself with her hands, but it doesn't help. It hits her face, hands, and upper body, melting through her visor, dissolving her gloves and the tattered remains of her skimpy blouse, and burning a few holes in her red bikini panties.

"Aaah!" She screams, from surprise and embarrassment.

Haruka and Kiyomi attack the monster simultaneously, but Haruka's sword and Kiyomi's punch are both parried by the monster. It then attacks them back with its claws.

Kiyomi's skirt is torn to ribbons, but manages to stay on her. Haruka's yellow outfit is likewise sliced, parts of her midriff are bared, and a little underboob is visible.

The monster jumps back and starts jacking the green condiment tube that serves as its dick.

Madoka gets your attention, "Careful, don't let any of the girls get hit by its next attack. The results won't be pretty."

Sayuka/Escalayer. Miniscule damage. medium-low energy left.
Rika/Djibril: low damage.
Hikari/Venus Pink: high damage
Haruka: very low damage

The best defense is a good offense. You order all five of the girls to attack the monster and not let it use its powerful attack.

In a brilliant pair of teamwork, Sayuka switches her sword/whip/ribbon to its ribbon mode, and wraps the monster's right arm in it, stopping it from jacking with that arm. Sayuka steps to the side, pulling the monster's arm away from its green condiment tube dick. Rika flies past Sayuka, having hidden behind her up to this point, and lands a solid hit on the monster's trapped elbow. It bends the other way in a sickening crunch, followed by a blood curdling scream from the monster.

A now topless Hikari runs at the monster from the other side, her unsupported breasts bouncing from the exertion. She kicks the monster in the head, spilling some its curry on the ground. The monster, takes its other hand off of it's dick to try to block Venus Pink's attack. It is unsuccessful, but some of the slime on its hand rubs off on Hikari's right pink kneehigh sock, burning an assortment of holes in it.

Haruka follows Hikari and tries to cut off the monster's left arm. With one broken and one missing arm, the monster would be unable to finish its attack. However, monster parries Haruka's slice with its claws and then lets Haruka's momentum carry her into its claws. Haruka's yellow outfit catches on the claws and the thin fabric gives way, baring her breasts to the monster as well.

The monster admires the two wonderful sets of breasts that appeared before him. Having already jacked almost to the point of orgasm, the four precious orbs are enough to get him over the edge. Kiyomi moves in to finish the job of disabling the monster. Her luck unfortunately runs out. Her face is right in front of the monster's condiment tube dick when it starts ejaculating. Without any additional stimulation, the monster's orgasm is ruined, and consists of more twitching and less ejaculating than it had wanted.

That doesn't help Kiyomi too much. Venus Blue takes a faceful and chestful of the monster's green jizz. The putrid liquid begins melting through her shattered visor and dissolves her short blouse. Some of the monster's green ejaculate bounces off of Kiyomi and hits a woman that had been raped earlier. The large droplet that hits her stomach causes her to suddenly swell up with something, appearing nine months pregnant in almost an instant.

Although the monster's cum not in contact these parts of her clothes, Kiyomi's gloves, skirt, and boots begin slowly disappearing as the jizz sizzles against her skin.

Madoka cries out at your side, "If her barrier falls all the way, she'll get impregnated by that monster's spawn, just like that other woman."

Well, since there were no more posts, I'll post some of my self-critique. Other people please feel free to chime in. Agree, disagree, other comments? I want to improve myself, so I need to know what I'm doing wrong and how I can improve.


The nice thing about these sorts of tests, is that even if they're complete failures, they're still successful if the QM learns from them. Aside from the fact that I only had one player, which I can blame on the fact that /qu/ doesn't have all that many casual lurkers and also that I didn't bring a pre-organized core of users with me, I've identified some issues.

Issues:

Dice:
There's a lot of rolling in my system. The play would have gone smoother if there were less dice. OTOH, if there were at least three players, I would have required three people to roll 5d100. This isn't really all that more complicated than having three people roll 1d100 in a normal best of 3 system. Fortunately, all the rolls could be done in parallel, so I didn't have the issue of people rolling for accuracy, followed by rolling for damage.

Content vs. Audience:
It's a smutfic on a nominally SFW board. Do the math. (Although I'm honestly surprised by this. On halfchan, the userbase of /d/ and /tg/ overlaps heavily. For fuck's sake, Mahou Shonen Quest moved from /d/ to /tg/ and only had a sex scene after moving to /tg/.)

Lack of Audience:
The only dimension in which I would regard this thread as having failed as a test, is that there was only one player. If there were more players, there would be more discussion between them on a possible course of action, especially ideas that I could steal. Also, when there're more players, some good write ins tend to pop up.

Ambition vs. Talent:
I had trouble pushing content fast enough with just five girls that I had to write for. I cut down on the descriptiveness of my posts so I could decrease the amount of time it took to write each post, but that resulted in the posts becoming rather bland. Too much roll and resolve, not enough juicy content (of either the smut variety or just regular descriptions). This is a major problem, because I was planning on something in the vicinity of 15 girls on the field in the endgame. If I can't handle five girls in the field, then my entire plan needs to be rethought.

Contents:
Lack of a plot hook, started with mission assignment rather than action. Valid criticism, but this was a mechanics test. In hindsight, I realize I could have used the backstory of Beat Blades Haruka for a canon one-shot pilot episode. Also, since none of the characters were introduced or given any characterization, there was no emotional connection to them.

Smut:
For a smutquest, there wasn't a lot of smut.


Overall:
As of right now, my mechanics are still geared too much for a video game or tabletop. More streamlining is required to turn this into a quest. Also, I either need to learn to type much faster, or consider having a daily update schedule, even thought that is almost guaranteed to destroy discussion.


Plan of action:
* See about streamlining mechanics
* Have next test be a canon 1-shot with some story in addition to the fighting.

Try just one girl to start. I had/have 7 players I have to update individually, and even on this board it is hard. Plus with only one girl we'd be more likely to become emotionally involved. I'd even post anon to boost your players if you streamlined this.

That is the plan once the story starts. I just wanted to avoid running into a situation where the quest is OK at the beginning, and then completely collapses once the MC adds more girls to his harem. Better that I realize now that updating for five girls individually is hard, than me having to put the actual quest on hiatus when I reach five girls in the main storyline so I can rethink the mechanics.

In pretty much every case, I intend to introduce girls individually or at most in pairs.
