215e53 No.6778

Hello /qu/! This is my very first quest. I had this idea in a /tg/ thread over on 4chan (Shocking!) and wanted to have a little fun with it. I will explain the setting later, because thats part of my grand plan.

The only thing you need to know for now is that it is the 3rd of April 1964 and you are sitting in your living room on your comfy TV chair. The curfew is still in place, and patrols were just doubled. The sun is setting and the red warm light is flooding into the room through the window on your right, curtains swinging lightly in the spring breeze.

You Look up at the clock hanging above your TV. 18:44, one minutes until T+7 days.

You look down again, a small bowl of tomato soup in your left hand, and a spoon in the right. The soup was cold already. The stress of the past few days had ruined your appetite.

A silent tick indicated that the time had come.

You stand up and place the bowl on a black table next to your chair.

Below your bed is a hatch, and below the hatch is a safe, and in the safe is your new life.

As you push the bed away, revealing the dusty mess you hadn't cleaned in ages, you feel your heart pound and your palms getting sweaty.

You open the hatch and look at the safe. A black box with a rounded handle and a single keyhole stares back at you.

You reach to your chest and feel your heart racing. You close your eyes and listen to it for a while. Focusing on calming yourself you open your white shirt and take the key off the chain that has been given to you three years ago.

Leaning down again you push the key inside the keyhole. A 90° turn and three audible clicks later you pull on the handle revealing two documents to the evening sunlight.

They are both labeled top secret. One is heavier than the other.

What do you do?

>A: Read the heavier one

>B: Read the lighter one

d7d087 No.6779

You know what? Let's go with the lighter one.

>nice choice!

The second file contains two sheets of paper.

The first paper reads:

„Gladiokontakt 1:

Name: Elisabeth Gehm

Geburtsjahr: 1932

Geschlecht: W

Identifizierungssatz: „Guten Morgen werte Frau! Wissen sie rein zufällig wo ich einen Dackel kaufen kann?“

Antwort:“Da müssen sie mal beim Aldi nachschauen.“

Adresse: Hessen; Eschwege-Oberhone; Im Rosengarten 6.“

You stand up and walk back to the living-room. You take the old ADAC Atlas out of the bookshelf and walk back to the safe. You sit down on the bed and begin looking for a city named Eschwege in Hessen.

Roll me 5+ d100 Geography. The quest will contain parts in German to add to the immersion. I will translate too complicated parts on request, but this one should be fairly easy.

(Aw crap. Sorry. This is my fault. I meant that you succeed this roll if you roll a 5 or higher in 1 d 100 roll (4% chance of failure).

Sorry.

Since you passed this roll 5 times anyways I would say no reroll needed.)

You open the back of the Atlas and look in the city-names register for Eschwege. You find it quickly and open the noted page.

As you realize that this city is directly in the Berlin-Frankfurt sector you begin to lose faith in this operation.

How could anyone in that sector still be alive? That was the main theater of war just a few days ago until the Russian army advanced and finally seized Frankfurt, Cologne and Munich.

You look back at the file and remember the second sheet. Maybe this contact is in a safer location.

>By the way: all locations used in this are 100% real. Googe them if you want to or I am crap at explaining how stuff looks.

„Gladiokontakt 2:

Name: Markus Eisenhauer“

The name rings a bell.

„Alter: 37

Geschlecht: M

Identifizierungssatz: „Die Musik war gestern etwas laut.“

Antwort:“Das tut mir sehr leid.“

Adresse: Niedersachsen; Paderborn-Nordborchen; Liethberg 1.“

Wait a second. That's the address of Emanuel Krietscher. The guy next door. How on earth…

You stand up and run towards the window. The Sun had already set by now, but the sky was still blue and radiated a shimmery mixture of light and dark into the house.

You look towards the north-west, for the house number near the streetlamp. Yes. It clearly read 1. Your third contact was indeed your neighbor Emanuel, but Emanuel was not Markus. Your head started spinning. You had gone through so many names in so little time, before being selected for this program your name was Sgt. Andrew Hassbach. Simple, short, non complicated. Then you were selected and went through training and introduction with the name Gregory Thomas, after that your transfer name way Micheal Hausern and then, you bought this house with agency money as Johann Becker three years ago and you just received the name Mathias Grubenfelde.

You shake your head and walk into the kitchen to pour yourself a glass of water.

You think about your situation while you let the water fill your glass.

You need to contact both of them, Markus Eisenhauer, and Elisabeth Gehm. Markus was living next door, Elisabeth in an area that was bombed to hell and back with conventional weapons.

Driving by car would be an option. Around 5 hours of driving on small roads and without any stops would be enough. But that was impossible for multiple reasons. The curfew was just one of them. They would arrest you as soon as-SHIT!

You feel the cold water running over your hand as the glass was full already and was now pouring over your watch.

19:10

How did time fly that quickly?!

You quickly drink the water and head back for the safe.

Only one file remaining. It contains a sheet of paper, and a relatively heavy letter addressed at your fake identity Johann Becker.

You begind reading the sheet first.

"To be read 7 days after receiving code EXECUTE.

Destroy all files relating to operation Gladio after reading.

Your are ordered to contact the other two Gladio agents assigned to your operation until T+10 days after receiving code EXECUTE.

Failure to contact the other agents in time will result in KIA assumption and termination of all files related to Sgt. Andrew Hassbach.

Once contact has been established with the other agents you will assume command and begin working on task one and two of operation Gladio."

You now reach for your pocket knife and open the letter.

It contains 3 items.

A German passport and with your picture and a new name: Mathias Grubenfelde.

A German identity card with the same name and picture.

A Germany drivers license, also for Mathias Grubenfelde.

"Guess the life of Johann Becker is over now." you think to yourself as you look down at the safe again.

You put all the documents back into the safe, climb onto a chair and detach the smoke alarm from your ceiling. You look around for a lighter and find one next to your soup, which was now a public feast for the flies. You didn't plan on eating that anyways.

You light the documents on fire and throw in your old ID and passport.

You put on your coat and holster your .45APC Colt 1911A1.

You lock the door behind you and throw the keys into the trashcans in-front of your house.

What now?

>A: Go to your neighbor Emauels house and ring the doorbell. Maybe he is home and already read his instructions.

>B: Have a sneak around his house first. You never know what some people are up to.

>C: anon suggestions.

You decide to have a look around the outside of the house first. You never know what some people are up to, or if there was some error in the depths of bureaucracy and Emanuel is not your contact.

The light of the streetlamp illuminates only the driveway leading up to the garage on the right side of the house, while the path on the left side that leads to the front door and then branches off towards the back remains dark. You decide to head that way first and peek in through a window.

The air is chilly and the light of the fire burning in your bedroom is throwing gruesome shadows upon the street.

You approach the front door and turn towards the left. The window is open and you can smell a foul stench coming from it's direction. The bathroom most certainly, used not too long ago, the light inside is off however and there is none coming from the slit beneath the door either.

You continue towards the left and around the corner of the house, there is a flickering light coming from the backside. Carefully you approach the last corner and peek around it.

You can see a pit in the ground with a fire burning inside, and a man standing by the fire, watching whatever is burning in the hole.

You want to take a closer look at the man and decide to take a step towards him.

He seems to be wearing an overall and work-boots.

He is about the same size as Emauel, very large and very strong. His head is completely bald, yet you can't see the mans face since he is facing the fire. Even if he turned around now the light would still make it impossible to recognize him.

A lot of sparks are coming from the fire, whatever is burning in there must be very light.

What do?

>A: “Die Musik war gestern etwas laut.” [“The music was a little loud yesterday.”] (Identification sentence)

>B: ”Emanuel?”

>C: Leave and find another way in.

>E: Anon suggestions. I will let you do dialog any way you please and try to come up with something the character you are talking to would say. This will ALWAYS be an option for dialog. This is important, keep it in mind.

Extra options: (you can simply add these to any of the options above. (for example: A+1, aim weapon at him and say the identification sentence))

>1: aim your weapon at him

>2: Anon suggestions.

>Option A, but as security draw the pistol, don't aim it but make sure it's visible to the man.

You draw your colt and hold it in-front of your abdomen.

“Die Musik war gestern etwas laut.”

The man rapidly spins around and yells „WAS ZUM TEUFEL?!“ [What the hell?!], only after a second or two he calms down and goes back to his relaxed stance.

„Oh Mann, hast du mich erschreckt. Ich wusste nicht, dass du so schnell hier seien würdest. Das tut mir sehr Leid.“ [Oh man, you really scared me. I didn't know you would be here so quickly. I am very sorry.]

He gestures at the rear entrance to the house and calmly says:”Warum gehen wir nicht rein und besprechen alles? Wir sollten schnellstens abhauen.” [Why don't we go inside and talk about this? We should get away from here as quickly as possible.]. “Und steck das Teil weg, sonst sieht das noch wer.” [And put that thing away, someone might see it.]

You still can't see his face, but he sounds like Emanuel.

What now?

>A: Follow the man into the house.

>B: “Ich würde lieber hier draußen bleiben.” [I would rather stay out here.]

>C: Anon suggestions.

>1: Holster Colt.

>2: Anon suggestions

>I'm more than a little suspicious now, he didn't reply with any recognition code back to me. Not holstering the colt, but with my free hand gesture him inside first. Sounding like Emanuel is relatively easy, but try to get him talking and see if we can ascertain for sure if he is manny or not.

He opens the door behind him and enters the house. You follow him inside, you are greeted by the strong smell of gasoline. It becomes apparent that he rigged the entire place to burn down on a moments notice, your former lives would be destroyed in the flames of both your houses.

You have entered a small kitchen area, a round table is standing in the middle of the room, next to the door you just came through is a counter, on which a coffee machine is situated, next to which stands a toaster. both appear to be extremely dirty. On the other side of the room is a small fridge, next to which is a tiny wall mounted sink and the oven.

Emanuel opens the fridge and takes a beer. He pops it open and places it in front of you.

(I will translate what is said in German to English when it is not neccessary to know what language is being used)

"So here is the situation:" he says as he bends down to take a beer for himself "I got a car registered on my old cover identity Emanuel, so that won't be too helpfull if we get caugh. I suggest we jack a car here and then do whatever the orders are. I am sure you Janks wouldn't just spend thousands of Dollars to buy two loney guys houses over here and then not do anything with them."It is ture, the area you lived in for the past few years now was rather expensive, not only that, but the houses you lived in are brand new and would have probably sold extremely well, was it not for the war. As he places the now opened beer bottle in front of him, he pulls out a pistol from one of the many pockets on his overall and places it next to the beer. The dim light of the fire outside is not enough to let you recognize it's model, but you can still take a guess based on it's size and general shape. [Roll 1 d 100]

You are sure that this is Emanuel now.

What do? Keep in mind to write as you would say it in character.

>A: "I agree, we should steal someones car and then leave from here as fast as possible."

>B: "It should be safe to take your car."

>C: "We don't need a car just yet."

>D: Anon suggestions

Extra options:

You disregard the pistol on the table completely and drink a few gulps of the beer.

Supressing a burp with your right hand you set the beer down with your left and say " Thank you, tastes great. We'll take your car. It would be no more suspicious than a stolen one, and we could do without people looking for stolen vechicle."

Emanuel nods and picks up his pistol, putting it back into his pocket, he grabs the beer and leaves into the room behind him.

"I had to use some of my fuel to prepare the house, so we might want to stop and find some fuel along the way." as he is already in the next room.

You follow him inside and as it turns out the kitchen is directly connected to the garage.

You smell oil and dust in the air, there is barely any light now, and you have trouble seeing, but you can clearly make out the shape of a car in the middle of the room.

Suddenly you hear a click coming from the darkness in-front of you, Emanuel has opened the driver's side door and the internal lights activated.

Now you are able to see clearly again, the car is an older model, but still in good shape. There are a lot replacement parts around, Emanuel must have spend a lot of time in this room working on his car.

"Get in." he says, pointing at the seat next to his.

After stumbeling around the car in the semi dark garage you find your way to the door and take a seat. Emanuel opens his window a little and pulls on a chain, which is apparently attached to a mechanism connected to the garage door behind him.

Out in the driveway he stops the engine again, leaves the car for a moment, and goes back inside the garage.

He dissapears into the darkness for a second only to reappear shortly after, this time in a slight hurry.

You look at him, and then back at your own house, it was burning like a campfire by now, surely someone had alraedy noticed. You will not miss that place.

"Almost forgot to start the fire in my old place. Where are we going?"

You take a look at the fuel indicator, it shows half full.

>"Our second contact is in northern Hessia, we should head there and regoup with her."

>"The police station. We need more guns where we are going."

>"We need to get away from here first and foremost. There is a forest near-by, we can hide there and examine the situation."

>explain the situation/mission while driving

"The police station. We need more guns where we are going."

He nods and reverses out of the driveway and into the empty city. Night has fallen quickly and the darkness in the streets is only made worse by the fact that the streetlamps have been shut off during the invasion, and the Soviets have no intetion to activate them again any time soon.

"You know the situation?" you ask about halfway there.

"Yes. World War three. Guess we can consider ourselves lucky that they didn't use any nuclear weapons." After a brief pause he adds "…yet.".

You are now parked in an alleyway, Emanuel has shut off the engines and the lights, the sky is now completely black, and seeing anything at is a masive challenge. A dim flickering light is coming from the alley behind you.

"You know, used to have family in Frankfurt."

You remain silent. The gravity of the situation is slowly creeping over you.

You begin to explain the situation, you need to make sure that both of you know as much as possible, you can't afford not to share information at this point.

The Soviets breached the border in northern Hessia a week ago, and went straight for the Rhine, leaving only ashes in their path. After only a week of fighting Hamburg, Munich and eventually Bonn fell, the Federal Republic of Germany doesn't exist anymore.

The Soviets are now making their way to Paris and London. An entire continent was in danger, and you were left behind enemy lines to cause havok and slow them down. The future of the free world is in your hands.

You have two orders: Group up with the other operators assigned to you and slow down the Soviet advance.

The first order was already 50% done, you found Emanuel, now you have to find Elisabeth. The area where Elizabeth lives however was the main theater of war just a few days ago, that is why you will have to arm yourself before you go there. You just don't know what to expect.

That's where the police station comes in.

You get out of the car and begin to sneak your way deeper into the alleyway. As you are about to reach the end of it you can hear people talking in German. They appear to have a thick east German accent.

Emanuel stops you and whispers:"How are we actually going to get in there?"

You stop and realize that you haven't thought about that. Surely the Communists would guard a place like that, maybe even use it as a forward base.

You peek around the corner and find the source of the flickering light, a fire which is guarded by a soldier standing next to it. It seems like they are burning documents from inside the station and having a good time, the smile on the soldier's face and the bottles scattered around the place tell the tale of drunken victors.

Another soldier is walking in and out of the station, throwing more and more paper into the fire.

There could be more of them inside, but you can only see these two now.

In-front of the police station they parekd a GAZ-69, the vehicle can hold up to four soldiers.

Next to the police station is the old and now abandoned grocery store, on your side of the street is an office building. you remember that it has a front door directly opposite of the police station, and one side entrance in your alley. Next to the office building is a small park. You used to spend a lot of time there.

Around the police station is a chainlink fence. The only way into the fenced off area is through a gate next to the fire.

What do?

>paint route you and Emanuel take on the picture

AND

>write what you do and say

If Emanuel is too far away you will not be able to communicate silently to him, which means that you will have to pass multiple stealth checks for every enemy is in haring range. Keep this in mind, you may want to communicate your plan to him now, and not later. I will onyl paint things on the map that you can sense, for example things you see or hear, but not things you are told about and have to remember.
