I'm a guy of simple things. The cops grabbing me because i like torrenting movies is one of the things i'd rather not happen. what do you guys use to stay off the grid that's free? I wouldn't be torrenting if i had money…

Use i2p, torrenting on that network is encouraged as opposed to Tor. Try retroshare (use Tor) and IPFS. Also heard of software called "anomos" or something similar. Check the /g/wiki.

For clearnet torrents, just avoid downloading anything too new. (eg. 2015 most popular music)
