Mostly everyone who is sexually active has HPV. In most cases, HPV presents no symptoms. And the carcinogenic strains of HPV are at a low percentage. Even genital warts (which doesn't cause cancer) isn't visible in vast majority of cases of HPV infection.

As for HSV (herpes), if you take meds for it you prevent outbreaks and transmission to future partners. The chance of catching herpes from an infected partner who takes meds is very small.
