Yes. I liked the fact that FO4 avoided any SJW garbage and wasn't as PC as I had thought. The barely linear story and the talking protagonist was a bit off putting though. Still better than I expected. Despite a few odd moments and glitches here and there.

The story is much less linear than pre-Vegas New Vegas. No bullshit invisible walls, no "here's a shortcut but lol it's full of level 40 deathclaws and cazadors", plus it's a Bethesda game. The main quest is always short and linear outside of Morrowind's convoluted "do 6 different things for the houses" bits and you're expected to get caught up in the thousands of sidequests and discoverable locations.

I honestly hated New Vegas and I think FO4 was a vast improvement over it, but the story still feels a tad too linear for me because of the whole "gotta get my son back and if I don't I'm a shit father" guilt. I can't RP as anything else.

If so, I wouldn't be too too worried. The tv show has been changing/doing all sorts of shit that simply does not fuckin occur in the books.

For example, Brienne never fights the Hound and in fact never even meets him. No idea why they chose to do that - probably because fans were like "we wanna see the two biggest guys fight and see who wins!!!"

Anyways the show deviated completely from the books. Just read the books.
