OP and spectrum here (Asperger's) and yeah it is a terrible thing, but it's surprising what a human can adapt to and become accepting of over time.
30 and I can fake acting interested if someone brings something up to me but I never initiate conversation, other than a Hey or What's Up to a few people at college, nor do I try to continue it by divulging any personal information at all. It's for the best that I deleted my realname facebook several years ago, it's awkward when people from work or class would add me, I can just imagine their reaction when they'd go back and find some of the more /pol/ posts I'd made.

These comics are making me feel autistic because I can identify with him… I was diagnosed with aspergers but over the last couple of years I've started to reject that diagnosis and think it was false.
Some of the things I do because I just don't have the energy to act or be polite like people want me to, I think I understand people and social skills well now… But I also remember being a kid and not getting them… To make matters worse I am socially avoidant so that makes it more complicated to pass judgement on my social abilities given my lack of social engagement.
