I mean let's be realistic, you can't even get a decent paying career anymore until you are around 22 and that's assuming you graduate with perfect grades and don't fuck up, switch majors, or get a Bachelors in Worthlessness degree. My mother, who has (close to) masters in something chemistry landed her first proper job at a party. Or rather, an "interview" scheduled later from that party. And that was not a bad job either.
And my grandfather helped her get summer jobs through contacts. Something they NEVER did for me. It was just expected that I applied to whatever gigantic bitch of a chain that was somewhat close by public transport.
