>mcjob doesn't reply to resume

>barista requires experience

>retail requires experience

>applied to 10+ jobs in the last month and no response

Is going onto welfare the solution? I really don't wanna deal with the shame and the bullshit that Centrelink(Australian bux) requires.

How does someone easily get a wage slave part/casual position? Is there some trick?

>job requires experience

>can't get job experience unless hired

>too honest to even consider lying on resume

 No.115847

You have to call them. even a mcjob is competitive. You have to call up and get on your hands and feet. Simply applying isn't enough anymore to be a wageslave. Sorry fam

I didn't have to do this.

 No.115876

Dude, if you really are in need of money, you have a few options. One, find something that needs doing, offer to do it for cheap and bullshit your way through it. I am cleaning a plane at the local airstrip tomorrow. Do I have any idea how to do it? No. Will I get paid at least 100 dollars if the plane seems to be clean? Yes. Option two, if there are no things that need doing in your immediate area, go to a temp agency. They are fucking dying to have anyone work for them, it is disgusting terrible work, with terrible pay, but you get money. Live frugally, and eventually you will find an okay job.

bumping for this godly advice

If you really gotta get a job, go to a temp agency.

Luckily in my shitty small town there is a healthy manufacturing sector so there is always an opening somewhere.

If you get into a decent place and stick it out 90 days you can get a raise when you're brought onto the company's payroll.

that's your problem

sometimes you have to cheat and lie to get ahead

anyone who is making a hiring decision knows this unless they're fucking retarded

>talk to the manager in person, dressed to impress

>land an interview

>pull off the interview quite well

>hear nothing for a week

>go back and talk to the manager

>"I haven't gotten to it yet, come back tomorrow"

>come back the next day

>"Still haven't gotten to it yet, try again tomorrow"

>Go back again

>"Oh yeah, I got around to it, you should get an email soon"

>Get pic related tonight after all my killer effort

Not OP, but I've been applying and trying for a year now with no luck.

Well to be fair, this chris gardner lad just got really lucky, it's far from the norm. Even a profession in making toilets sparkle can be competitive.

 No.115996

general service jobs have fierce competition because they get attacked by the LAST people you want to be fight a job over for.

AT THE SAME GODDAMN TIME.

I'm talking teenagers, Chad's, Stacy's, people who have lost their jobs and need to feed their kids, credentialed students that have just graduated, credentialed students that are out of work, people who know how the game is played but their industry has been annihilated, etc. Because these jobs are "plentiful" require little skills, and are easy to get to in person. i mean, literally go in as a "customer" and boom you're in. how many industrial type jobs do you know that you can do that?

you need to focus and specialize. do something that is required by the general public. protip, if you're in the US most of our work is maintenance/clerical it's a double edged sword i know but you can mitigate it by doing general industry something like electrical work. that shit's transferable. a linkedin page is useful to start connecting but mostly to stalk people in your area and know who's working where, which companies exist, where people who went to your local college are at now. stalk unashamedly.

honestly the BEST way you're going to get a job is through someone you know. dumb luck is just that dumb luck. working your way up is extremely time intensive(if you can even get a starting position). there is the cheap community college route as well, if you do trades and the like you'll find people that are already in the industry that can help you out. not so much for AA/AS degrees though.

>no experience, or job references.

>got an interview the same day and got the job

>unloading trucks @8/hr

>quit after putting up with that shit for too long

>used job experience to get a better job

Getting into retail is easy if you apply to the unpopular bottom-tier positions.

Millions of people apply for shit jobs every day. You're competing against a whole herd of nobodies.

If you try and apply for a job that seems far above your education/skill level/whatnot you'd also have a very small chance of getting hired, BUT you have less competition.

It's worth a try.
