It's incredibly slow, unfortunately, but the upside of having so few participants is that we can actually have coherent, in-depth discussions.

It's not anything like /r9k/, which is refreshing. I still occasionally pop back over to 4chan's robot board, almost always Legion Faggotymously, but all the really good stuff gets drowned in repetitive frogposting.

Yeah, the pathologization of masculinity through autism is something a lot of people have talked about. Men are thought to have no feelings, which is why a lot of men have Asperger's. We are basically formed by a culture and not some product of a disease.

That's yearly diagnosis rates of course. Because of the effects of cumulation, the rates themselves grew for the next decade still; in 2006 they levelled off (this is Scottish data, not sure about anywhere else) at about 1 in 166.

I don't know how anyone could bat an eyelid at 1 an 166. that's a ridiculously high rate considering they're doing literally nothing to accommodate us, and taking no preventative measures (ie eugenics, sterilisation) if they really think of autistic spectrum disorders as disorders…
i fell into the latter camp for a while, but the more I see how suddenly the concept of autism has exploded into societal consciousness, the more i think society is the problem, not us.
