Many charts are missing. If you're able to find the missing parts please post it here

I have several of these charts from cuckchan; I'll check them out and post the ones that are missing here. The 90s ones alone are enough to be a backlog for many lifetimes.

Thank God they added hentai into these too

Greetings, this will be a board for the discussion of classic Anime.

Currently we'll discuss anime from 1999 and further back.

Anime from 2009-2000 will become eligible when 2020 rolls around, and so on and so forth for each passing decade.

Basic rules are as follows:

1. Global rules apply.
2. Porn is allowed but must be spoilered.
3. No spamming or shitposting

That's all for now; rules will expand as board grows.

Have fun, and do not hesitate to air any concerns or provide constructive feedback

Going to try to find some time to make a banner or two in between projects.

Would love more banners, so please contribute here if you can.

Excellent! Banners must be < 500KB in terms of file size, and the dimensions of 300px x 100px.

Been forever since I've seen pic related. Gonna have to watch it again sometime for nostalgia's sake, although I probably forget everything to the point where it might as well be like watching something new.

>the second Oz book has a subplot about a group of shrieking, whiny females wanting to usurp the male rule of the Scarecrow because muh feminism
>when they rule, they're lazy as fuck, leaving all the work to the men while they do nothing
>gets defeated because all of them feared a single mouse
>obviously created as a parody of the suffrage movement back then
>only the animu version of Wizard of Oz adapts the subplot, all the American movies don't dare to touch it with a ten-feet pole

Based Nippon.

Back when pic related first came out, I never paid it any mind before because for whatever reason I got the impression that it was just a generic hentai (probably because of the company "Kitty Media.")

Watched this review:

http://benthesage.com/anime-abandon-lily-c-a-t/#

…now I'm going to give it a shot. Seems surprisingly good. I don't always agree with Sage (I found his NGE and Aeon Flux reviews kinda halfass, and his Violence Jack review was an obnoxious cop out.) but he can be a great resource for finding out about hidden gems. Sort've like a video version of Buried Treasure: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/buried-treasure/archive

A thousand times THIS!

In fact, watch it right now:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0ooLzhD0SQ

In terms of concept and visual elements, it's like Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz and Star Wars had a love child.

The soundtrack in particular stands out, and can even be quite haunting:

Also, be sure to track down the dub if you want some "so bad it's good" comedy gold (Yohko actually uses the term "bobby soxer" to describe herself)

Just a general thread to talk about what shows people are watching. What you hate/like about it, etc.

Pic related I'm re-watching Votoms. I was never too fond of the ending - the climax was great, just not the very end. Didn't ruin it or anything, just kind of 'meh'.

Definitely the show that got me into mecha.

Got the ADV release of Excel Saga (with the ADVid Notes that explain the references and jokes in more detail) for dirt cheap earlier in the Fall, but haven't been able to watch it due to being constantly pile driven by school work. Looking forward to holiday break just for that.

Saw it and remembered it in the first place because a friend o' mine actually had the first few episodes via fansub vhs before it got licensed. Ended up not seeing the whole series due to it getting licensed fairly shortly after seeing the fansubs (IIRC, my friend couldn't or decided not to get the rest due to wanting the licensed version, or due to fansub sites no longer offering the vhs's.)

I remember it being wonderfully kooky and batshit insane. Plus I got around to seeing Puni Puni Poemi (from the same creative team) and loved it to death.

So here's to a Joyous Yuletide marathoning Excel Saga!

Though I certainly enjoy the convenience of streaming and downloading anime, there was something undeniably special about meeting up with friends every Sunday, back in the day, to watch the next new episode on Adult Swim. Hell, I remember high fives and hand shakes all around as the credits finished rolling on the final episode (after a long period of stunned, touched silence for obvious reasons.)

While the Funimation Exclusive has the cooler packaging (i.e. like a vinyl record lp), I'm going to go for the Amazon exclusive because it has those two really nice art books. Plus that clam-shell case is no slouch in the looks department either. By comparison, the art cards touted as the physical extras in the Funimation exclusive seem kinda meh.

First Anime Experience: Retro Edition!

I'll start:

>Late 80's/Early 90's

>Around 7-9 years old
>Older brother works at local video store (starts out as Adventure Land, then changes location twice and becomes 1st Run Video)
>Always brings me home videos from the kid's section (because of this I'm also later exposed to other gems like The Last Unicorn, Puss N Boots, and Metamorphoses/Winds of Change)

>Up to this point, only familiar with animation as Saturday Morning Cartoons, weekday afterschool cartoons, Looney Tunes, etc.

>Brother brings home "Clash of the Bionoids", (a localized and butchered version of Macross: DYRL)

>Even in it's butchered form, proceeds to blow my brain out of my skull

>Dat Cinematography
>Dat Music
Post too long. Click here to view the full text.

 No.61

I wish I was an fucking cool as you. My experience is a bit pleb.

>late 90's

>I live out in the sticks, so my main source of kid entertainment is the Disney Channel, and on Saturday mornings Fox Kids.
>I pretty much took every opportunity I could to not watch the Disney Channel.
>Eventually I discover Digimon.
>Despite the bad dubbing my child self loves it
>eventually watch other Saban dubbed stuff like MOTHERFUCKING MEDABOTS and Flint the Time Detective.
>I beg my folks to get satellite over the years, and finally strangely enough right after 9/11 we get one
>Discover Toonami and Adult Swim

The worst part is I didn't discover watching shit online until maybe 2005.
