Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu denounced the Obama administration Tuesday, accusing the White House of preventing border agents from enforcing immigration laws.

Babeu, flanked by Border Patrol agents and union leaders, said high-traffic smuggling routes are not appropriately staffed and laid into the administration for failed leadership.

The sheriff denounced the politicization of immigration enforcement at a news conference at PCSO's Florence headquarters.

National Border Patrol Labor Council President Brandon Judd picked up on that theme, saying the agency is at a crossroads.

“We are either going to be a specialized law enforcement agency dedicated to enforcing our nation’s immigration laws or a political arm of the administration,” Judd said.

He said because the Obama administration failed to convince the American public to pass immigration reform, “the president is bypassing Congress by legislating through policy. These policies in essence are granting amnesty to thousands, if not millions, of persons who enter the country illegally.”

Judd alleged the administration has engaged in a campaign to mislead the American people to believe our borders are secure.

“He (Pres. Obama) has manipulated the data, had agents assigned to low traffic areas and attempted to quiet dissent by calling those who question his approach as misinformed without offering an evidence to support these allegations.”

According to figures Babeu released Tuesday, traffic of illegal immigrants in the first four months of this fiscal year is up by 25 percent. He said there’s been a 102 percent increase in unaccompanied juvPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

The president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy (AIFD) said that all immigration to the United States should be put on “pause” due to the potential risk it poses to national security from Muslim terrorists and foreign intelligence agents.

AFID president Zuhdi Jasser’s comments were prompted by a question about potential security threats posed by Syrian refugees from an attendee at the 2016 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

“My response to that is that we need to put a pause on all immigration, but not just say against Muslim immigration,” Jasser said.

“And I say that with family waiting, trying to come here,” he added. "And I'm trying to figure out a way to get them here. It's impossible."

Jasser’s remarks were made during a question and answer session following an address he gave on Thursday entitled “Political Islam: How Patriotic American Muslims Defy the Radical Islamists” at the annual conservative gathering, which is being held in National Harbor, Md. this year.

“And I will tell you, there is ignorance in thinking that it’s just ISIS,” Jasser continued, arguing that the security threat is not limited to Islamic extremists, but also includes foreign intelligence operatives.

“I guarantee to you [that] embedded in the refugees are intelligence operatives of [the] Assad regime, of Russia, of many operatives - Iran - that are not always just Muslim, that could include non-Muslims that we aren’t vetting,” he said.

A top Homeland Security official told Border Patrol agents the Obama regime has “no intention of deporting” many of the illegal immigrants caught trying to sneak into the country, ordering instead that they be released so they don’t clog up the courts, a leading advocate for agents testified to Congress.

Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, said the orders are a new “catch and release” policy, which he said “amounts to amnesty” because it means many illegal immigrants are never asked to leave the country.

It also suggests the Border Patrol is being ordered to break President Obama’s own enforcement priorities, which say new illegal immigrants — defined as those who came after Dec. 31, 2013 — are priorities for deportation, and are supposed to be arrested and processed. (Obama is aware of this, and has fired many officials over it.)

Mr. Judd provided his testimony in written answers released Monday by the House Judiciary Committee, saying that even in some criminal cases, agents are ordered to let illegal immigrants go without ever issuing them a Notice to Appear, or NTA, which is what puts them into deportation proceedings.

Mr. Judd said they took their case directly to Deputy Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who told them not to bother.

“Deputy Secretary Mayorkas told us that the Border Patrol needs to focus its resources towards the worst of the worst. He said that by prioritizing those we choose to deport, we will help alleviate the burden on an already overburdened court system,” Mr. Judd recalled.

We all know the elite are on the warpath against Donald Trump, with everyone from pundits, to major world leaders, to the Pope speaking out against him. Newt Gingrich recently said it’s because Trump isn’t part of the secret societies and hasn’t taken the initiation rites.

Regardless, Trump has received a groundswell of support from the average conservative American, winning state primaries left and right. Ohio’s primary is coming up on March 15, and it’s a big one because it’s a “winner takes all” state.

Well now it’s being alleged that Ohio’s GOP has intentionally set up a confusing ballot in a bid to try to make sure Donald Trump does not win.

The Dem ballot has one place for voters to mark their choice for president. Period.

The Republican ballot in Ohio this year apparently has two, leaving a lot more questions than answers about whether or not voters will understand how it works.

Political parties, not voters, choose their presidential nominees, a Republican convention rules member told CNBC, a day after GOP front-runner Donald Trump rolled up more big primary victories.

"The media has created the perception that the voters choose the nomination. That's the conflict here," Curly Haugland, an unbound GOP delegate from North Dakota, told CNBC's "Squawk Box" on Wednesday. He even questioned why primaries and caucuses are held.

Haugland is one of 112 Republican delegates who are not required to cast their support for any one candidate because their states and territories don't hold primaries or caucuses.

Even with Trump's huge projected delegate haul in four state primaries Tuesday, the odds are increasing the billionaire businessman may not ultimately get the 1,237 delegates needed to claim the GOP nomination before the convention.

This could lead to a brokered convention, in which unbound delegates, like Haugland, could play a significant swing role on the first ballot to choose a nominee.

Trump is the only guy with the balls to confront Hillary Clinton over her past criminal activities. If there is a brokered convention, the RINOs would be handing over the election to Hillary on a silver platter.

It looks like the election will be rigged, because after all, Republicans and Democrats are secretly in bed together on most issues that matter most. Trump threatens their political mafia.

Smartmatic Group, an electronic voting firm whose worldwide headquarters is located in the United Kingdom, will be running the online balloting process in the Utah Republican Open Caucuses on Tuesday.

The chairman of Smartmatic’s board, Lord Mark Malloch-Brown, currently serves on the board of George Soros’s Open Society Foundation and has close ties to the billionaire.

The Wall Street Journal dubbed the Republican party’s online adventure on Tuesday as “one of the biggest online votes conducted so far in the U.S.” and the “largest experiment with online presidential voting since 2004, when Michigan allowed Democrats to vote in a party caucus via the Internet.”

The Journal further reported:

>Utah residents will have the option of casting ballots in the Republican presidential contest using computers, tablets, and smartphones next week. …

>Online “polls” will be open between 7:00 a.m. and 11 p.m. on March 22. Voters will get a receipt that will verify that their vote was recorded correctly. The state party declined to release the number of online voter registrations that it has received. …

The Journal did not cite the biography of Malloch-Brown, chairman of Smartmatic’s board. That biography is posted openly on Smartmatic’s website, and shows close associations between Malloch-Brown and Soros, a major donor to the Democratic Party and hundreds of liberal and radical-left groups.

Oil Bust Kills Off 19 Million Barrels Per Day Of Future Oil Production

The collapse in oil prices have led to severe cuts in spending and investment from oil producers, and a new report finds that the combined cuts will lead to a daily 19 million barrels of potential future oil production taken off the table.

The report from Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. finds that oil companies have either cancelled or suspended final investment decisions on 150 oil projects, which account for about 125 billion barrels of oil. “By not sanctioning projects today, you’re putting a hole in production in 2017, 2018 and 2019 — potentially a big hole,” David Pursell, managing director of macro research investment bank Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co.

The cuts, and the resulting loss of future production, will be concentrated in a few key areas. For example, the report estimates Iraq will fail to realize 5 million barrels per day of production. Iraq, like everyone else, is suffering from low oil prices. Meanwhile, the government has higher costs for its military campaign against ISIS militants. That leaves few resources left over to reimburse private oil companies for exploration and development work. So while Iraq has succeeded in increasing output in recent years, drilling is expected to slow down.

We no longer have to wait for the collapse of U.S. shale oil production, it already has begun. Unfortunately, this is bad news for the U.S. Government and domestic economy. Falling U.S. oil production will put severe stress on the highly leveraged debt based financial system over the next several years.

According to the U.S. Energy Information Agency (EIA) recent Drilling Productivity Report, shale oil production from the top fields is forecasted to decline 116,000 barrels per day in January 2016. Even though overall U.S. shale oil production is forecasted to be down 12% from its peak in March 2015, one of the largest fields in Texas is down a whopping 30%

The Eagle Ford Shale Oil Field in Texas peaked at 1.7 million barrels per day (mbd) in March 2015 and is forecasted to drop to 1.2 mbd next month (Jan 2016). Again, this is according to the EIA Drilling Productivity Reports which base their figures on estimates. However, even larger declines in some of these fields may be experienced when the real data comes out in the following months.

THIS IS A BIG DEAL. I have been warning about the coming collapse of U.S. shale oil production for more than a year now. The idea that the United States would become energy independent is now DEAD FOR GOOD.

Total U.S. shale oil production in January 2016, is forecasted to be 4.67 mbd, down from the peak of 5.3 mbd in March 2015. This is a decline of 630,000 barrels per day from the peak.

Russia, China, India and other emerging powers are pushing for a multipolar world; meanwhile the United States, a former hegemon, is unable to stop them as it is losing its political power and is “de-facto bankrupt,” William Engdahl, a political observer for New Eastern Outlook, told Radio Sputnik.

Slowly, but surely Russia, China and other emerging economies are beginning to reduce their dependency on the US dollar. Russia plans to trade oil using rubles by undermining the current US oil price monopoly.

This move would be a dramatic blow to the economy of the United States and break the US political hegemony, Engdahl explained.

"The rest of the world is beginning to realize that the United States of America, the hegemon or the sole super power, whatever you want to call it, is de-facto bankrupt," the political expert told Sputnik.

It's not simply about the upcoming de-dollarization of the global oil trade, Engdahl explained, but due to the fact that the US economy has been severely hit on multiple fronts.

With US industries outsourced to other countries, unemployment shooting through the roof and trillions of dollars of debt, the US economy is in a terrible shape, Engdahl said.

Stock markets worldwide have tumbled with investors unsettled by the continued slide in oil prices and fears about the impact on global growth.

Europe's main markets closed sharply down, led by the FTSE 100, which sank 3.46%, or 203.2 points, to 5,673.58.

In afternoon trading on Wall Street, the Dow Jones, S&P 500, and Nasdaq indexes were close to 3% down.

Many markets are now in so-called bear market territory - a fall of 20% or more from their most recent peak.

Germany's Dax and the Cac 40 in Paris ended 2.82% and 3.45% down respectively.

The falls in Europe and the US came after Asian stocks closed sharply lower.

Markets in Dubai closed at a 28-month low, while in Japan shares fell to their lowest level since October 2014.

Top emerging market shares and currencies were also caught up in the turmoil, with the Russian rouble hitting a new record low of 80.295 against the dollar.

Some observers think that many markets were riding for a fall. Asset prices were pumped up by ultra-low interest rates in the developed world and also by the central banks that have engaged in quantitative easing, buying financial assets with newly created money.

That happened with shares, with bonds and with commodities. For commodities the boom is well and truly over, partly due to the slowdown in China and in the case of oil mainly due to plentiful supplies.

Clearly there are some troublesome developments and the IMF has a warning: "If these key challenges are not successfully managed, global growth could be derailed."

Royal Dutch Shell and Saudi Aramco appear to be getting a divorce, breaking up their joint venture in U.S.-based refining assets.

The two companies joined together to create Motiva Enterprises LLC in 1998, a 50-50 joint venture that operated three refineries on the U.S. Gulf Coast. But Shell and Saudi Aramco have seen their interests head in different directions. "It is now time for the partners to pursue their independent downstream goals," said Abdulrahman Al-Wuhaib, a senior vice president of Saudi Aramco’s downstream unit.

Reuters reported that the relationship started to fray after Motiva announced a $10 billion expansion of the Port Arthur refinery, doubling its capacity to 603,000 barrels per day, making it America’s largest refinery. It produced gasoline, diesel and jet fuel. A leak shortly after the expansion was completed in 2012 led to ballooning costs, exacerbating tension between Shell and Aramco. A 2015 workers strike also sparked anger between the two companies.

The two companies signed a nonbinding letter of intent, a plan that would divide up Motiva’s refineries between them. The refineries have a combined capacity of 1.1 million barrels per day and are all located close to each other. The breakup will allow Saudi Aramco to take over the Port Arthur refinery and 26 distribution terminals, and Aramco will also hold onto the Motiva brand name. Shell will take over the other two refineries, Convent and Norco, both located in Louisiana. Shell said that it would operate the two refineries as one plant with a combined throughput of 500,000 barrels per day.

The split will hand the largest U.S. refinery to the state-owned Saudi oil company. The Wall Street Journal speculates that it could also pave the way for some sort of listing of Aramco’s assets in a public offering, something that Saudi officials have alluded to for several months. Few expect Aramco to list its upstream production assets in Saudi Arabia; downstream assets are much more likely to be offered up.

In a story not reported on at all by any Western mainstream media source, Iceland just sentenced another five high level bankers to prison for directly contributing to the collapse of the country’s economy in 2008.

This brings the total to 26 bankers now behind bars in Iceland, with most being CEOs of large financial institutions, rather than low level traders. … …

Their crimes include market manipulation, embezzlement, and breach of fiduciary duties. Their market manipulation destroyed the country’s economy and to this day Iceland is still having to repay the global loan sharks at the IMF, as well as governments of other countries, which kept the nation operating.

Iceland’s President, Olafur Ragnar Grimmson noted:

“Why are the banks considered to be the holy churches of the modern economy? Why are private banks not like airlines and telecommunication companies and allowed to go bankrupt if they have been run in an irresponsible way? The theory that you have to bail out banks is a theory that you allow bankers enjoy for their own profit, their success, and then let ordinary people bear their failure through taxes and austerity. People in enlightened democracies are not going to accept that in the long run.”

The President added:

“We were wise enough not to follow the traditional prevailing orthodoxies of the Western financial world in the last 30 years. We introduced currency controls, we let the banks fail, we provided support for the poor, and we didn’t introduce austerity measures like you’re seeing in Europe.”

A former head of a major Irish bank has been extradited from the U.S. and brought before Dublin District Court to face several charges stemming from the bank’s role in the 2008 financial crisis.

David Drumm, former chief executive of Irish Anglo Bank from 2005 until 2008, had been arrested in Boston in October 2015, and originally attempted to fight extradition — but he recently withdrew the objection and was returned to Ireland early on Monday.

Drumm faces 33 charges in Ireland, which echoes Iceland’s unprecedented move to hold its bankers criminally accountable for their role in that country’s economic meltdown. Though Drumm predictably denied wrongdoing, his charges include “fraud, forgery, misleading management reporting, unlawful lending, falsifying documents, and false accounting, linked to financial transactions prior to the collapse of Anglo,” according to the Irish Times.

Though prosecutors consider Drumm a flight risk — after all, he seemed to be seeking safe haven inside the United States — the court allowed the ex-banker to post bail under several conditions. Drumm’s passport is currently being held by the Gardaí (Garda Síochána, or Irish Police), and under the bail arrangement, he assured the court he would not apply for another and does not possess a U.S. passport.

Seven of Drumm’s relatives offered to put their houses on the line as ‘security’ for his bail, though the judge only required four names.

As RT reported, Drumm is alleged to have participated in transactions totaling around €7 billion between Anglo and a second lending institution, Irish Life and Permanent. Anglo “posted the worst corporate results in Irish history with losses of €17.5 billion for 2010.”

The former banking executive has not yet entered a formal plea. He faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison if found guilty.

Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke warned Monday that free speech is under assault from totalitarians in the US, ironically calling themselves protesters.

Appearing on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show, Clarke weighed in on the violence in Chicago last week during anti-Trump rallies.

“Sean, everything is ass-backwards in the country, right now,” Clarke said. “We’re looking at rioting, we’re calling it protesting. The cops are the bad guys, the crooks are the victims now.”

Clarke further warned that there is an organised attack on free speech going on.

“This is a totalitarian movement. It’s very stealth, okay? I know who these people are, I’ve seen it.” the Sheriff said.

“This is a conglomeration of misfits: You have cop-haters, you have anarchists, you have criminals, you have some rowdy juveniles, you have organized labor,” he continued.

“This is an attempt to shut down free speech,” Clark continued, urging that “Everything that’s said when one wants to express themselves has to be put through an approval meter.”

Referring specifically to the riots that prevented a Trump rally from going ahead, Clarke added “These presidential activities are part of our democratic process. The people who showed up in Chicago had every right under the Constitution to participate in this election process and they were denied.”

MONEY VELOCITY DECLINE

To be sure, QE & ZIRP help the big bank sector with redeemed toxic bonds, with bond carry trade potential, with rising values of doomed items like junk bonds. They even help the big banks directly with stock buyouts as the USFed illicitly buys bank stocks.

However, QE and ZIRP are not stimulus agents to the USEconomy. They are a death sentence. They are not viable support for the USD-based financial structure. They are destructive elements. The business investment, often called capital expenditures (CAPEX) has largely taken place in foreign lands. Most multi-national corporations did not expand inside the United States for a number of reasons. The US corporate tax rate is the highest in the industrial world. The US environmental regulations are the most strict in the industrial world. The federal regulatory oversight and interference is the most burdensome in the industrial world. So large companies have conducted expansion in the Emerging Market Nations. Where those nations grossly expanded their official debt at the sovereign level, they have been bankrupted on the currency impact. Such is not stimulus. The proof of ineffective policy is found in the fast decline in money velocity. It is defined in loose terms as the number of economic round trips for money within the economy during a given cycle. It is akin to how often your car's oil circulates within the engine, finding the same molecules at the starting point of the pistons shafts and cylinders in a given period of time, like a month.

If monetary policy had any shred of stimulus, the chart below would not appear as such a horrendous decline. PERMANENT QE & ZIRP IN REALITY

The QE policy is not stimulus, no way, not by any basic definition. The ZIRP policy is not stimulus, not by any sensible reasonable or logical manner. QE represents multi-$trillion slush money to aid the Wall Street criminal banking center. QE has been expanded abroad, beyond the USFed offices (see BLICS), even to involve confiscations (see Japanese pensions). The QE has been joined since December by the gigantic clandestine arm known as the Exchange Stabilization Fund, operated by the USDept Treasury. With recent additions, one can truly call the monetary policy QE to Infinity. Maybe the term QE to Infinity Squared makes sense, a take-off of their CDO Squared lunatic bond instruments. Refer to Collateralized Debt Obligations, where leverage was applied twice.

The ZIRP enables the more efficient feedstock and lubrication for Interest Rate Swap machinery. The ZIRP enables a bond carry trade for easy Wall Street bank profits. The ZIRP actually slows the USEconomy in an utterly obvious way, with reduced income flows from pension funds, insurance treasuries, and individual retirees. The wet blanket is obvious and universal in its dampening effect. With its integral parts impossible to remove, one can truly call the monetary policy ZIRP Forever. The central bankers are truly stuck, not just in mud, but in quicksand. They are sinking, and their central bank franchise system is facing total ruin.

Together they guarantee a systemic failure. The Zimbabwe hyper monetary inflation undermines the entire global banking system in its reserves management structure. An African style inflation to global reserves cannot continue, and has forced an alternative system to be constructed, by the East. The ultra-low interest undermines the risk reward for savings, inhibits the economic flows, and distorts asset values universally. The USFed has truly destroyed the global economy and financial structure. The unfolding events are toward systemic failure and forcing the installation of the Gold Standard. It is the long avoided solution.

The New Scheiss Dollar will arrive in order to assure continued import supply to the USEconomy. It will be given a 30% devaluation out of the gate, then many more devaluations of similar variety. The New Dollar will fail all foreign and Eastern scrutiny. The USGovt will be forced to react to USTBill rejection at the ports. The US must accommodate with the New Scheiss Dollar in order to assure import supply, and to alleviate the many stalemates to come. The United States finds itself on the slippery slope that leads to the Third World, a Jackass forecast that has been presented since Lehman fell (better described as killed by JPM and GSax). The only apparent alternative is for the United States Govt to lease a large amount of gold bullion (like 10,000 tons) from China in order to properly launch a gold-backed currency. Doing so would open the gates for a generation of commercial colonization, but actual progress in returning capitalism to the United States. The colonization has already begun, with secret deals galore. As Ron Paul has stated, one cannot blame capitalism for the current failure, since we have had almost none!

The Gold price will find its true value and price over $10,000 per ounce. The Silver price will find its true value and price over $300 per ounce. In reaching these levels, the ratio will return to the 30-1 range. Several steps have been laid out by the Hat Trick Letter toward the return of proper price to precious metals. • The Department of State is committing to hosting a series of international workshops and meetings, based in DC, to increase international collaboration around space-weather preparedness.

• The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials is ensuring that space-weather is incorporated into guidance documents for transportation-security and emergency-management officials.

• The National Emergency Management Association is increasing its space-weather training and education efforts.

• Airlines for America is committing to educate the commercial aviation community on space weather and its effects.

Together, these efforts will facilitate the integration of space-weather considerations into planning and decision-making at all levels, ensuring that the United States is appropriately prepared for and resilient to future space-weather events.

Next time you visit your doctor, (if you do), be careful how you respond to questions or you may just be branded “mentally ill” and subjected to “treatment” aka disarmament or even internment.

That is because fascists advising the Obama regime, in partnership with Big Psychiatry, want to make doctors subject all American adults and children over age 12 to screening for alleged “mental health” disorders — particularly depression, at least to start with. Then, anyone found to harbor any alleged mental disorder, including children as young as eight, should undergo “therapy,” often including powerful psychotropic medications that experts say have dubious value but often come with well-documented and highly dangerous side effects.

Your ObamaCare plan will be forced to pay for it, whether you want it or not, thanks to the federal government’s commandeering of the health-insurance industry under the so-called Affordable Care Act. And eventually, younger and younger children will be in Big Brother’s crosshairs for mental and behavioral health “services,” whether parents want it or not. Since 2002, the government has been intent on testing millions for mental illness. This obsession even extends to our veterans as they return from combat and leave the service. The veterans are increasingly being diagnosed as having PTSD and they are subsequently being adjudicated to not being eligible to own a firearm.

Marti Oakley has been at the forefront on covering elderly abuse in which the courts are stealing the property and incarcerating the elderly into mandatory detention in a care facility because they are mentally infirm. And why is this happening? If an elderly person fails to balance their checkbook, for example, they are robbed and confined by the courts.

These practices are reminiscent of how the Soviets used to imprison political enemies. The Soviets simply said if anyone disagree with the government, they must have “political schizophrenia” and required to have treatment in a mental healthcare facility.

Tapping into lingering anguish from last year’s mass shooting at a black church in Charleston, South Carolina, Mrs. Clinton promised to carry on President Obama’s fight for expanded background checks to buy firearms.

As I’ve said before, there is no such thing as “common sense gun safety measures.” There is only communist-style solutions to guns and that ultimately ends in gun confiscation.

While stories will pull at the heart strings of some bleeding heart liberals, those that stop to think about such stories should consider that the person that shot the elderly brother and sister, if the story is even true, should consider that the person who did the shooting apparently was not caught and still has his gun. What do you think the proper response should be? Should it not be that other Americans be armed and prepared to deal with the criminal element of society should they encounter them? That, my friends, would be the “common sense” approach to the matter.

In pushing those “tougher” gun laws, which are really unconstitutional gun laws, Clinton said, “I’m really proud to stand with President Obama, and I’m really proud to stand with the progress he’s made.”

The issue is not about the quality of healthcare, or the access for everyone. The issue at hand is getting everyone into the system, and collecting data enough to “label” individuals with rather – ahem, disarming – disorders that can and will cancel your right to own a gun, and may even force you into drug treatment and mandatory “therapy.”

More and more, the terms that are used will define a person’s access to constitutional rights – police calls will include information about mental health states, particularly if there is a history of violence or mental disorders. PTSD will be used to take guns from the very veterans who fought for our freedoms, at the very time when they need help not demotion in society. Telling your doctor how you really feel is a sure path to possibly being categorized and disenfranchised.

Is this what the founding fathers had in mind when they stood up for the rights of the people to defend against tyranny? Absolutely not… but it is exactly what we stand to get under Obamacare.

The fire and police chiefs of Flint resigned on Friday in what the Michigan city's mayor, Karen Weaver, called a first step in restructuring operations as it struggles to cope with dangerous levels of lead in its drinking water.

"Mayor Weaver has determined the city needs fresh faces in place with new ideas to help move Flint forward," said a statement from her office.

Chief of Police James Tolbert and the fire department chief, David Cox Jr., submitted their resignations to Weaver, the statement said.

Flint, a city of some 100,000 people, was under control of a state-appointed emergency manager in 2014 when it switched its source of water from Detroit's municipal system to the Flint River to save money.

Flint switched back to Detroit water in October after tests found high levels of lead in samples of children's blood. The more corrosive water from the river leached more lead from the city pipes than Detroit water did. Lead can damage the nervous system.

Several lawsuits have been filed by parents who say their children are showing dangerously high blood levels of lead.

In recent weeks, state and federal officials at the Environmental Protection Agency were forced to admit that they knew since around April 2014 that residents of the city of 102,000 have been drinking water tainted with lead. In case you weren't aware, lead poisoning is especially detrimental to children; it can cause irreversible brain damage and a host of other neurological problems.

According to published reports, officials at Michigan's environmental agency as well as the EPA failed to take action to both fix the problem and notify the public until well after the contamination began.

In his screed, Moore blames Michigan's Republican governor, Rick Snyder; he blames Republican political ideology; and he blames the state's environmental offices as well, which he believes are dominated by Republicans. He asks residents to join him in a revolution of sorts to hold everyone who is responsible to account.

'We screwed up'

Only, he leaves out any scorn of federal EPA officials, and in fact in one of his several measures he outlines to address the problem, he says the "federal government must then be placed in charge."

Fact is, the federal government is as responsible for this failure as are state officials, though Moore's radical left-wing ideological beliefs won't allow him to see that. So responsible is the EPA that its Region 5 Director, Susan Hedmon, announced recently that she was resigning from her post; come to find out, her agency also knew what was happening in Flint but, despite having the legal mandate to act, did nothing but rely on a state-level agency that was too mired in political processes to do the right thing.
