Privacy reasons are why.

I don't see the need to show the meta-data of user posts to everyone else.

What they do, who they are, where they come from, etc, is their personal business. Not mine, not anyone else's.

As long as people obey the rules I allow them to post whatever news they like. Conspiracy theories included.

A few threads are locked because information is either (1) sufficient and I don't need it being bumped with anything else that's not related/off-topic or (2) abuse has already occurred, such as posting a nude photo, or unrelated spam. If a thread is abused more than once, it may end up getting locked to prevent abuse.

IPs do not identify people but can be used for ISP meta-data retrieval.

This is why I do not allow IPs to be publicly logged in real-time. Posters have the right to remain anonymous.

If you are a federal investigator and need information on a poster, I suggest you contact the administration of 8ch.net, if there is illegal abuse I am sure they can provide IP logs to you.

Also consider the fact criminals may being using a VPN, SOCKS proxies or Tor. Also, any content that is being leaked here I am not responsible for.
