That said, Genshiken Nidaime (sort of a sequel to the first Genshiken, but with a mostly female/fujoshit cast) has a pretty touching story about one of the characters, a crossdresser, coming to terms with his sexuality, and falling for the other main guy. It's one of the best treatments of the topic I've seen in an anime or manga (though I don't read too much gay shit). He probably won't end up winning Madarame's heart over the girls he's competing with, but given how much of the manga has focused on him, it's well within the realm of possibility.
