I don't care about all this other stuff that anime thinks I should care about. Like deep and soul moving plot or half baked modern philosophy.

Not really no, that genre has pretty much fallen out of favor. Most ultraviolent shows get whacked with lightbars and other censors nowadays, even on the blurays.
