Hey /rec/, I know this isn't a classic /rec/ question, but you guys are really cool and you pointed me at some great anime and manga. I want to draw a manga and publish it in Japan. I am currently learning Japanese and manga drawing style, and in a few years I might save up money to go to Japan. My question is: Do I have to live in Japan to publish my manga there? I've read Bakuman and I got a general idea of how the manga publishing process works, but I'm not sure if I can scan and send the pages from my country or I have to be in Japan to physically turn them in.

If you're a gaijin it's very unlikely you'll get published. You'd be better off trying to build up popularity with a webcomic and then trying to self publish books if you find an audience.

Thank you so much, the video was very informative! I'm so happy now, since I wasn't sure in the first place if I was gonna ever save money for Japan, since my country is poor. I'm gonna try sending a manga when my Japanese and drawing improves in a few years, thank you!
