I need help trying to find a manga

It is about these kids joining the military but one of the girls is able to pilot this mech

the mech is like a red wrinkly mascot suit that has an onion shaped head with a carrot nose

the first chapter starts with an attack by an enemy satellite and the first kid disobeying orders trying to save everybody in the building

its 6 volumes long

no It was a more military like manga. Characters did crack jokes but they have very apparent character flaws and ideals that just break down in front of them when they join the military
