 No.4592

I stumbled upon this manga in a /pol/ thread and i found it right down my alley, i googled a bit but i'm unable to find the chapters above 41 in english, maybe some of you guys with more experience know where i might find those?

If not maybe you know some manga or anime with similar hardboiled military themes?

 No.4593

As you can see here https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=7449

You are fresh out of luck, it looks like the scanlator dropped it almost two years ago. It also doesn't look like anyone has licensed it outside of France, so you really are out of options.

 No.4595

yeah i hoped some other scalnator might had continued the work but seems i'm out of luck, that's too bad for once that i had found a manga i enjoyed.

Do you know anything with similar tones, realistic, hardboiled, military, moeshit-free?

There's pumpkin scissors that only has 2 moments of moe shit retardation. But it too got dropped by scanlators. There's also Red Eyes which is an arguably much more realistic mecha than Front Mission. But Red Eyes too got dropped by scanlators...

It seems that only gundam shit ever gets translated when it comes to mecha. I mean fuck not even Rideback has been translated for fuck's sake.

>>4595

Previous poster here again, you can try Jormungand and Black Lagoon but something worse than moe shit plagues them.

GURRRRLLL POWERRRRR plagues them, they're works where the male leads just aren't as good as the cunts.

Damn it. All that shit that become so popular, while the goodones cant even get sacnlated.

Those two seems quite promising but i'm not really sure i want to start them considering they got dropped. But thanks anyway man.

Also what i'm really looking for is a realistc/ hardboiled military manga, bonus point for mecha but it's not strictly neccessary.

>>4608

yeah, i've watched (some time ago) the Black Lagoon anime, it has some ineteresting stuff going for it, but i wholeheartedly agree, grill power is definitely more silly and annoying than moeshit.

(i didnt really cared/payed attention back then, but thinking of it now it's fucking pathetic, everyone of the strong/good at fighting characters are females, aside for the Japanese samurai maybe, fuck that shit)

>bonus point for mecha

Are you familiar with Muv-Luv already? It's about an alternate universe Earth where aliens (not the humanoid kind, think Starship Troopers but much larger and more grotesque) invaded during the 70s. There was an anime about the Total Eclipse side story a few years back, it was alright. The Day After has the same tone as the pictures you posted in the OP but it's VN only.

Pumpkin Scissors while not as hardboiled as Red eyes or Front Mission has some really intense moments.

But again, it was dropped just like Front Mission.

You could try getting into the multimedia franchise Kerberos Cop Saga. Shit's good, despite having power armor in it during the 50s, it also has an anime film called Jin Roh, which I'm sure you've watched.

While posting this I also remembered, there's the manga series Cat Shit One, which is fully translated. Sadly its sequel has gone largely ignored by the west despite it being even more bad ass.

The sequel has the protags being Operators doing Operator things Operatively during the last decade of the Cold War.

That's actually a great suggestion i dont know why i didnt think of it myself. I've watched and liked very much Jin Roh but i never actually checked the Panzer Cop manga... but again seems that obviously only half of it got translated...

i've started red eyes btw, seems good, but i just hope they'll make the protagonist a bit less "invicible" later on

>>4682

i'll check that franchsie out but seems quiet different from what i was looking for

>only half got translated

Fuck you're right, I completely forgot since I decided to get into the film aspect of the series as well.

Anyhow, out of all of these Cat Shit One, is the one fully translated. Sure the sequel is untranslated but the author considers it a Gaiden. Meaning it may, or may not get retconned on a whim at any moment if he is to decide to continue the series. It's really good mang it slightly touches on a controversial conspiracy theory of the time involving the CIA's drug trade in Cambodia.

But yeah mang, military manga always get this shitty treatment sadly.

Oh, btw if you're a fan of the original Starship Trooper book, and not the shitty movie, you'll like the OVAs for it. They're called Uchuu no Senshi, which quite literally translates into Space Soldiers, or more culturally accurate Space Warriors. The representation of the power armors is almost 1:1 accurate to the book, however the plot takes a few liberties while mostly remaining the same.

Pics are definitely related.

sorry for the late reply, hope you are still there.

actually i've not read the ST book (but i agree the movie was shitty), but seeing all the liberals butthurt about it i'm definitely gonna read it now, sci-fi from someone who is not a progressive cunt is something to be treasured.

i cant believe they let something like that win the Hugo awards, truly different times i guess

 No.4811

The fact it was severely anti-commie is what nailed it an award. The facist/militaristic themes were heavily pardoned/overlooked in favor of anti-commie propoganda.

It's an interesting political essay, with nice fluff in it.

Sadly a 100% faithful adaptation will never happen.

Holy shit I remember that. Whatever happened to the 3d thing they were making set in the mideast?

They didn't receive the funding for it, the funding for it was going to be handled via BD/DVD sales.

Sadly enough not enough of them were had to fund the project.

I just hope they managed to recoup their losses via the toy commercials they had and what little disc media they were able to sell.
