Where can I find good, ultra-violent, edgy anime? I enjoyed Hellsing Ultimate but I would prefer something with more focus on the plot/characters.

There aren't too many anime with that amount of pointless violence as Hellsing. Try Elfen Lied(cute girls dismembering eachother), Tokyo Ghoul (faggot getting tortured and mutilated, then becoming a badass and torturing and mutilating others), Devilman (demons mutilating eachother) and Berserk (Guy with big sword being abused and killing everything with extra-brutal ending).

It's far from being as edgy and ultra-violent as Hellsing Ultimate, but I think you'd like Samurai Champloo if you haven't seen it yet.
